Maybe Im just a bit too much of a car nut, but to me it is "just a carrera". Im not impressed. A porsche isn't a porsche unless it has a turbo in it.

If that was my $68,000 dollars, I would have rather spent the additional $2K on a BMW M5, or the additional $6K on a Mercedes E55 AMG, both of which are every bit as fast as a carrera, except everyone gets their own seats, zoned climate control and alot more amenities that aren't availabe in the porsche.

Or you could save yourself $15K and get a slighter slower M3.

Now I don't have that kind of money, and I would be happy to be able to spend that kind of money, and a porsche carrera is a beautiful car, Im just saying if I had that kind of money, I'd spend it elsewhere.

You took the words out of my mouth. I believe that the M3 is not any slower either.

Beggars aren't choosers I don't think I'll ever be able to afford a car like that...

allright, altho the m3 is an FR car which i prefer to the somewhat ***** design of the BR 911 design, i'd take the porsche. The Porsche could take it off the line. It's got traction all over the M3. People always seem to think that Porsches are the handling machines but not as fast as the others. They're back heavy. Really hard to drive if you start to drift around a corner; steering wheel stops working.

Really though, if you say it's "just a carrera" and you're not a millionaire, own a real Boss 429, or have a 1997 911 widebody C4S turbo... you got problems.

I'll accept you as a car nut, BUT, as a car nut you should say, "hey a porsche!"

I hope you don't think the boxter is "a poor man's porsche".

Actually i say the boxtor is a pos. Well not really... But i dont see it up to porsche standards. The first ones were fairly slow. I know they fixed this with the "s" but it still isnt that fast. They are ugly and just dont have the nice sleek look that i feel porsches should have.

Like I said, its a nice car, just not what I would spend $70K on if I had it.

Oh of course I do!! A boxster is what some one buys just so they can say they own a "porsche" when they can't afford a real one. LOL. Boxsters really are an insult to the Porsche name IMO. I would never own one, even if you gave it to me...I'd trade it in on something else.

boxter's are great in four wheel drifts... I'd prefer the handling of a boxter to a 911.
