    Gods and Generals

Is anyone going to see this movie this weekend?

I really want to see it to see how they can fit the entire civil war into a 2 to 3 hour movie. Will be rather interesting it see how.

Through the previews it seems like they might actually give a good accurate description of Robert E. Lee, finally. But you never know, it is Hollywood.

I wish I could go to see it, but I doubt I can convince my date.

Convince her, you got time. I'm going for sure on Friday, then again on Saturday if it turns out good like they say it will be.

Uhhhh, I think the movie is supposed to be like 3 hours 40 min and the DVD when it comes out will be like 6 hours with a whole new battle scene

I can't wait to see it, Gettysburg was one of my favorite movies...

if you want to see something really funny, though, go to www.godsandgenerals.com then "enhanced site" and then to the game, and watch the trailor... the civil war has to be THE worst envirionment for a good first person shooter

A friend of mine saw an early showing and this is his quote(note: It isn't word for word, and I don't neccisarily support it since I haven't sen it)

It's a good movie if you want to see a movie. BUT if you want to see a civil war movie, there are better choices. It falls short in spots where a movie of this magnitude should not have fallen short on. Don't get me wrong, it's good, but not good enough. The acting is superb, the writing is fantastic, and it holds to history very well. The problems really just came in the feel and persona of the movie. It has problems that should have been worked out, especially with a budget as big as that. Gettysburg suffered the same problems though, so it comes to no suprise.

All in all, it was a good movie, but not the 5-star war epic it may have been made out to be. Worth the movie ticket, and the price of the DVD...

He is a civil war buff if there ever was one. He does the whole re-ennactment thing and has a vast detailed knowledge of the Civil war. Conviently, he is also a major movie buff as well. He has the visions of a director and the imagination of a writer.

Anywho, yea, there it is. BTW, the film isn't the entire war. For the big screen release,I believe they cut the Battle of Antietem because it was like an additiona 1.5 hours or something like that. It will be in the DVD though.

Reading Grants biography at the moment so now would be the ideal time. Any sort of war movie, however, depresses me. After I leave one I'm usually am glad I saw it but depressed. That was the way Black Hawk Down was anyway...

How else are they supposed to convey it?!?! Would you like to sit through a movie that was as long as the actual battle? /me thinks not

Don't get me wrong, hollywood has screwed with tons of War movies. I'm just saying they have to show the battles in thier own way.
