    I'd just like to say....

Well this may be political but with as many political threads and posts recently I think it's ok. After watching the news for the past few weeks Ive noticed alot of ppl calling Bush a war monger or who thinks war is the only solution. All the anti-war things are fine because like Tony's article said that's what a democracy is for. But when ppl star bashing Bush for wanting war it's gone too far.I'd just like to stand for him and say he is one heck of a good president.War monger: of course not, he is only doing what is right to protect his country and it's citizens. If war is what it comes to with North Korea and Iraq I'm all for it. I'd just like to say that I think Bush is the man in office for a good reason....because he should be.

      Don't worry about it Johnny.

In all hoensty there are substantially more people for the taking down of Saddam then against.

Look at it this way. Probably just aout every single Middle Eastern country wants Saddam gone cause they all know him for the freak off the leash that he is. Only problem is they just can't side with America or they lose face with the constituents and other ME countries so they'll scream and shout in public view but will quietly sip champagne in Bushs name behind closed doors. Know how I know this? Because if the majority of the ME countries gave a damn they would of long ago taken in the Palestinians.

Secondly, France built a reactor for Saddam that would of been capable of producing weapons grade plutonium and had it not been for the Israeli Air Force it would of gone online years ago so they want that awful memory to go away. Beside, no one really takes much heed when listening to France pontificate on military decisions. The only reason the French Revolution was won was directly due to the fact that the opposing forces was also french.

Thirdly, the rapid increase in internet and telecommunictions allows us to see images from vast distances and this works very well into the hands of the anit-war people. When they can show you pictures of hundreds of thousands of people protesting the war in 15 different cities it seems to present a very drastic number of outspoken critics against the war.

But lets break those numbers down. Let's say that on any given day you can show that in 15 cities world wide 100,000 people were present and proteting the war in each city. And let's also assume that just for good measure another 2 million people have signed an internet petition against the war. No, the likelyhood is great that some of the people who went to the protests are also on the petition but for the sake of simplicity ets just assume that we have two distinct and seperate groups.

So, the protestors equals 100,000 people * 15 cities = 1,500,000. and to the the 2,000,000 people who signed the internet petition for a grand total of 3.5 million.

Now. How many people are there in the world today? OVer 5 billion. You'll have to figure the math because its late and my brain is quite fried but I am willing to bet that the percentage of the worlds population that is against the war is so infinitessimally(sp?) small as to be completely insignificant.

Finally, as for the name calling, some people were just raised wrong.

I know that this is a politically and emotionally charged topic and it was certainly not my intent to insult of flame anyone. IF you have any questions with what I have posted here Please feel free to email me any hate bombs so as to keep them from the public eye.

Yeah, it seems that the anti-war people are more vocal about it.

...not to mention that being anti-war is an awfully popular thing for celebrities to embrace. No celebrity wants to look like a war-monger, so they'll say that "avoiding war" is great, etc.. etc...

some clips I saw from some awards show could have been mis-leading... some celebs say that "avoiding war is a good idea" but then immediatly it's edited to another person's comment.

that person could have been saying "avoiding war is a good idea, but it needs to be done in this case" or something simmilar, and the editing makes him/her look like a 100% anti-war person..

Same on the other hand. They can make any pro-war person look like a warmonger.

It's all about how the media presents the information that's out there. Lately, news coverage and media seems to be pretty dern liberal, so then anti-war viewpoint seems to be excentuated.

on the other hand, just about everyone I know well (personally) thinks that if Iraq doesn't disarm, we should go in and forcibly do it, as bush stated and intends to.

In response to this thread, I am just going to copy and paste something I had posted in another internet forum (so some points might not pertain to this particular "debate"):

          "I am against the war.

People say that we have to fight terrorism! Let's think here for a second...the reason that so many arab nations are upset with the U.S. is because we are constantly INTERFERING with their way of life...sticking our noses into their business. This has lead to hatred of America, and terrorist attacks. How are we going to rememdy this situation? We are going to INTERFERE AGAIN!! Seems to me that we are only going to stir up MORE anti-American sentiment, leading to MORE "assaults on our freedom."

Are any of you, at this very moment, having your freedom stolen? Mine seems to be in tact. In the however many years that American freedom has been "under attack" by terrorists, the bill of rights has stood strong. I can probally count the amount of freedoms I have lost on NO hands.

Fight to keep the peace!! Saddam Hussein poses the greatest threat to a non-violent world...as long as we over look Bush...and Blair. Warmonger-Bush, anyone?

Our failing economy; it's a beautiful thing. Glad to see the administration focusing on it, rather than some pointless war overseas...wait...I am also glad to see the it already taking a hit, due to pre-war jitters. Way to stimulate the Economy, President!"

Hasty, your formula for finding how many people support/disapprove of the war is a little flawed. You are not factoring in the people who don't care either way, or the ones who just don't care enough to protest. You can't assume that EVERYONE who was not at an anti-war rally is on Bush's side.

(On a side note, just about everyone I know is anti-war.)

I think we have been lenient in allowing some political discussion. There is currently one on Iraq already going and a speperate on on Korea. So I am not going to try and follow and moderate another one. So please go over to appropriate ones make you comments on the other threads.

              Closing this one for duplication.
