Well, with all the debating in the 2 iraq/nk threads, I've seen some things being mentioned that have been mentioned before.

I forget who, but someone mentioned "we used to think that the world was flat, so therefore we can't be sure of anything that we think is a truth today because we'll look back at it 30 years from now and realize how stupid we were."

...something like that.

I don't think that this statement is true at all.

We used to think that the world was flat because that's what we perceived. Nowadays research that is done needs to be backed up with imperical evidence, not simple conjectures or assumptions based upon observations. Something AO is also based upon. (Eat your heart out WAS)

We know now, that the world is round and I don't think that's going to change.

I think that statement only shows how large assumptions based on little evidence are dangerous.

Hindsight is always 20/20. The only thing we can do today is base our actions on as much truth as we have.

yep. Hindsight is 20/20. In the time being, we have to trust that our leaders know more than we do and that they really are doing hte right thing. Roosevelt entering WWII was certainly the right decision, but it took him years to do it, because his people wouldnt fight the war. It took one of our nations greatest catastrophies (sp) to enter the US into war, despit FDR knowing all along that the US had to enter the war to save France and England.

The same is true today. We have to stand behind our leaders and trust that they will do their jobs and arnt making mistakes we cant see. Im sure after this war is said and done, we will know how much evidence there was for war in Iraq. If the US government is fixing all the evidence and we are bluffing with everything right now, I, personally, will be first in line to oust Bush. But, right now, with neither you nor I knowing the TRUE evidence (we only know what the UN and the US tell us) we MUST trust our govnernment to act in a proper manner and do whats best for our country
