    Punctuation questions...

    Just got a couple questions.

When ending a sentence with parentheses, where does the period go? Outside the parentheses or inside?

    EX:
...to see if I could infuriate my father (he was a sailor in the Navy)

And the second question is similar: Where does the period go in a sentence ending in quotation marks?
    BrockSampson "I see dead people..."

and once I see them, I make sweet, sweet love...

I know that the period goes inside the quotation marks, and I am pretty sure that the period goes on the outside of the parenthesis.

I disagree. Inside the parentheses and outside the quotations. My wife has a B.A. in English, so I get corrected a lot.

Parentesis notate a further detail of the original sentence, thus the period goes outside to end the whole sentence.

A quote is a part of a sentence, said/written earlier and already ended, thus the period goes inside to denote the end of the quote itself.

My Dad (on my Mothers side), is a man.

My Dad is a man, "on my mothers side."

Hey, I said that my wife has the degree in English, not me! For clarification, I did not consult with her on this issue--but I should have!

I stand corrected to my last post...

Im not sure, but i know that when citing a source using correct MLA format, the period goes after the quotation and the citation reference.
