    Security In Your Area

Well this afternoon on my return home. I decided to make my way through the local post on my way back to college. I got up to the gate pulled out my ID card and I went on through. Now I understand that if I didn't have my car registered and didn't have an ID card then I would have been searched. But those can easily be manufactured to suit the eyes of the civilian guards. The rules of the post are with a code orange they are suppose to search every car that passes through (what the post general told me). This of course isn't happening even though it is a code orange. To me this could lead to a huge problem for one of the main bases in the US. I mean I passed right by airfields with Apaches, Chinooks, Blackhawks etc.. all lined up, I went by the soon to be finish Comanche training center and all without ever being searched or at least stopped.

Now to me this is a piss poor job of securing a very important part of the US defenses. But yet they are not doing anything.

Is this only in my area or are their places near you that are not guarded as closely as should be or even guarded to closely.

I would also like to hear if anyone lives near a military base, and if they could tell me if they can just go on through or if they are searched.

It's a selective thing. Ft. Hood will sometimes stop you, sometimes let you pass without so much as a look.

But being only a short drive away from Crawford, any time Bush is at his ranch you could get stopped in a 1-5 mile radius if he is around.

here at NAS pensacola, they are doing random searches, everyone gets id check and sticker check on car. if you dont have mil id or base tag on your car, you get a full search and what not. it all depends on the importance of the base...... a couple of apaches and stuff means nothing, they want to protect stuff like officer training places, or places like quantico, and bootcamp stuff, or major comand centers.

Lol! I would LOVe you to someone here get a fake ID past the guards at the Military Bases... My dad is active duty and my Military ID proves it with a complete different color, but they still take a good minute look at the card everytime I show it...

                  Depends

This can depend on a lot of factors. Do you go through there often? Maybe the guards recognized you. Or maybe the checks are random. It all depends. Fort Dix up here is locked down tight. Good luck getting on base.

that shouldent make a difference, all security should still be conducted as if first time and not knowing the person. what is at fort dix? army base i assume, prolly something important there. like i said, depends on sensitivity of the base. here at pensacola, all the navy officers get trained here, and navy and marines get pilot training here. pretty important, we are one security level away from max level, which sux, every car searched full and stuff. the dumpsters go moved far away from the barracks too which stinks cause now i have to walk 15 mins just to throw away some garbage

Martins AFB in Maryland is pretty tight, hell it was pretty tight even before the attacks.

Bragg is also very tight. I have a friend who lives down there and she's had problems driving around the area because of checkpoints and such.

The post I live near is Fort Rucker. It trains the helicopter pilots for the Army and Airforce as well as numerous foreign countries. Pretty important I think.

Well, seriously though... Making a fake Military ID is worthless unless you want to hurt someone.. They check them buying anything on base... So, worthless...

Have you seen them check them. My mom works for AAFES and all they do is make sure the date has not expired and the picture matches the person with the card.
