    Why "nominal"?

What am I missing? What does using the word "nominal" have to do with nice looking paintball guns? I've read the definition of nominal and I can't relate it...maybe it's just me.

Some people are too lazy to look up the word and they think it means good.

They are wrong, but choose to remain ignorant in spite of the obvious facts put before them.

    I reccomend a lynching :)

I was thinking kinda the same. I was wondering if it was some term from a movie or if an AO person just made it up? I'm thinking it's the new word like, cool, sweet, dope, slammin', hype, or phat!

It's people trying to coin a new phrase. It will only stay around if others start using it impropperly as well.

The main way it's used is to to imply "Insignificantly small; trifling" or "existing in name only and not in actuality."

It's very funny to me that they are using "nominal" to mean "good."

The assumption now is that they got it from hearing something like "All systems nominal" from a game or movie, which means normal, more or less.

If your gun isn't performing nominally, then I'd suggest you sell it or get it fixed :)

Actualy this would mean "All systems opperating at a minimal level."

Of course, we all know that games and movies are very good at "teaching" young people a lot of pretty bad information.

Nominal means good, I didn't get it from a book or game or something. It sounds good so it means good.

If you guys have to freak out over a word I use a lot. I mean its like saying "Check out my tricked mag, or cocker or impulse" tricked is used way more than nominal, and tricked means someone who was fooled by some person.

I think the better question is...

                Why NOT nominal?

                  Thank you Kai

People always ask Why... but what about why not?

Why should I buy a mag?
Why not should you buy a mag?
                  Why should I eat pie?
Why not should you eat pie

                  etc. :)

                  Why Nominal?
                  Why Not Nominal?

blazestorm - there are other meanings for the word "trick" perhaps tricked out refers to perfoming tricks. a marker you've installed a lot of stuff on is supposed to be capable of more. or perhaps it refers to prostitutes turning tricks. so tricked out means your marker is abused, ugly, and tired looking.

^^^that would be the one used in "all systems nominal"

I was joking dude, if you guys hate the word so much than fine I won't use it, will that make you happy? Will that make you go "woohoo no more usage of the word nominal! I'm so happy!"

and I'm 13. It was an inside joke with some of my friends, I brought it online and you guys flip out, completely and utterly flip out, just because I use a word in a different form than it's proper way.

But wait, shoulda isn't a word, Omg shoulda is such a stupid word, its not even real, I'm gonna go make a big deal about it just because someone used it in a sentence and I don't like it.
