Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happines

Thats what I am going to protect the 9th of April. I ship out for bootcamp the 9th for the Army. Now I want al of you who read this to stop, and think about what you get in this country. And for those of you who oppose the war, I want you to close your eyes and Immagine your family dieng in the world trade center or the pentagon. Now after your tears stop rolling, ask yourself this. "If the U.S. could have stopped those attacks by going to war would I support it." If your answer is no, well I believe your a fool. If your answer is yes(which I believe most of yours are) then look at it the same way with Iraq. Our president sees the threat, and he sent troops to take care of it before hundreds or even thousands of families just like yours get destroyed by another attack like the WTC.

I cry every time I hear a soldier has died, and thats the honest truth. every one of them was a famil member or a loved one of somebody. And they made the choice to give thier lives for the greater good, everyone who joins the service makes that choice. Every one of these soldiers who died could have fled when the shooting started, but they didn't. And while we play paintball, mess around on computers, walk down the street without getting attacked, listen to the music we like, or just sit down to read a book, thses men and women are out there fighting and giving their lives to make sure that stays possible. And on the 9th I will be damn proud to join them.

    Sorry for the novel.
    I may be losing,

    But I'm not lost!!

It's an honorable thing your doing. It's refreshing to see that young people not only understand patriotism, but are willing to fight and defend what is right. Hopefully the people of Iraq will one day understand the true meaning of freedom.

My sister worked for a commodities firm in Tower 4 of the WTC. September 11, 2001 is counted among the worst days of my life.

And no, I do not support the war.

And yes, I do support our troops. I want every single one of them to come back alive and well, and I'm sorry that so many have already lost their lives. However, that does not mean I have to support the actions of our government and the decision to use military force against Iraq.

I try my hardest to live my life by the Golden Rule. Because I did not like it when we were attacked, I do not support attacking another country.

It's about the hardest thing on the world to lose a brother or a sister, I've lost both in my life so far.

But let me ask you this, wouldn't you rather somebody else didn't have to go through what you've been through if it could be prevented?

PaintballerAK, Having met you, I can say that I am very proud of your decision. I know it wasn't easy moving across the continent just to find work, but your dedication to a purpose will serve you well in the Army.

Interesting...we debate with people on this board but know so little about them. Losing people is hard. When you endure such loss it makes you wonder if there is any meaning to life at all (I have suffered similar losses). While my politics are different from FactsofLife his post makes me realize that I there is much more to someone than politics!

As far as Iraq goes we are in it now and must be committed to win it or risk inspiring more Bin Ladens (like Somalia). I am, however, worried about our country getting entangled in war all over the world (Operation Irani Freedom, Operation N. Korea Freedom, etc.). I don't think such operations are in our national interest and I don't want young people of our nation dying for such things.

                  Life ALWAYS has meaning.

It's up to YOU to make it that way though.

I agree with you. There are times, however, when you start thinking about lost loved ones where you repeatedly ask yourself WHY? I admire everyone who suffers such loss and is able to carry on AND find meaning in it. I'm still working on the second part...

wake up the next morning and start breathing. simple as that.

You get better about it, you don't get over it, but you do get better.

and the old saying time heals all wounds is so true.

That's a loaded question and too many people ask questions like that to justify the taking of life. I don't want anyone, and I do mean anyone, to have to go through what I felt that day.

                          the few

The few that will die in this war are nothing that will die without it. 5,000 kids starve to death every month in Iraq because Saddam keeps the food and money he recieves from selling oil.

P8nt, God Bless YOU!!! You are the man!!! I wish I was younger and knew what I know now. I wasted a couple years that I wish I had spent serving my country. Thank you for what you do. My kid thanks you too. Do us proud!
