My official stance is: No stance. They're both awesome.
Weak, I know. But man, look at the work they do! I can't choose.

I dunno man... pun's got the phantom freek... but Doc has the whiteboard...

Pun does some awesome work and so does doc... Hmmm... Well, I'm an avid "the whiteboard" reader so I'll have to go with doc for the moment.

Good to know that somone of Tom's status seeks "relief" from a sport he helped create. A sport now ruled by a single patent.Comment

I've often thought about this myself
There are probably other equally talented airsmiths out there, but these two are definitely the most well-known, I think.
As much as Punisher has done some REALLY cool stuff, I had to vote for Doc. His creations make me drool they are so pretty.

I have had custom work done by them both.
they both have communication problems all the time and for me it is hard to get status reports (something that is essential to a long-term project) out of either one.
Because of the lack of skilled craftsmen for "real" customization for paintball gear (putting a new reg or x-way on an autococker does not mean custom), I will probably go back to both of them.
Punisher has had more of my business than Doc (monetarily speaking), but not by much.
It depends on what I want done, and who claims to be least busy at the time.
Doc has some kewl short-run small items that I have purchased, like the fat-bob, and the new freak-back, and the doc-stock. Punisher built my e-blazer (that I traded for a PS2 before I even got it back from him).
Currently Doc has my blank sluggo and is milling it to his hearts content, and he also has another project that he is designing and building an adaptor to put a warpfeed on my tippman F/A (the old hopper/feed system is removed).
I have plans to get a custom pumper from Punisher, but I like to stagger my projects, so am kinda waiting for my sluggo to get back before I officially request what I want in the punisher-pumper I want.
SilverFox, here on teh boards has done a little work for me, in that I have his automag pump-arms, and have built several mag-pumpers. He also has my SC SniperII and is milling and anodizing it
There are lots of choices out there, but varying levels of expertise, and it seems that the "better" ones are the busiest (duh).
Really, my only challenge with Doc and Punisher is communications! I can deal with delays, as I consider all custom projects to be "long-term" - but if I ask for a status a couple times a month, that should not be too difficult to deal with. Thanks, Brent "RamboPreacher" Hoefling, CPPA founder
