anyone know The best way to hack down a barrel. Other than a hack saw. I was thinking about a lathe but i dunno...

if I had to cut a barrel id use a pipe cutter
then sand the edges inside and out

Anyways, I used a scrollsaw and then some fine grain sandpaper and it worked fine for me but I'd agree a pipecutter would work better if you have one.Comment

Yeah either hack saw it or dremel it.
Either way the cut is probably gunna come out a bit crooked, unless you make a miter for the hacksaw blade, which wouldn't take too long.
Just remember to smooth out the cut on the inside so there aren't any burrs.

Yaya, your right lol...I had somebody precison cut my barrel to a 3", it was pimp but im not sure whta he used. I think it was a lay, I will ask him.Comment

DONT USE A PIPE CUTTER!!! the pressure thats put on the barrel will squish it a tiny bit, leading to sucky shotsComment

Or if you do use one, don't squeeze too hard.
Its gunna take a while to do that with a pipe cutter though. They're made for soft, think copper pipes. Make sure that it has a new blade if you do use it.
I'm really not sure how its going to work on alluminum. Hopefully you don't have a SS barrel, cuz that pipe cutter aint gettin nowhere on that.

pipe cutters don't do too bad on SS... I wouldn't use it for a barrel, but i dit cut down my MM body with one. just lots and lots of small turns. touch up with the trusty dremel and we're good to go.sigs are overrated.Comment
