    Need Help Cleaning up a Flood Car

    Well I just acquired a used jeep, and it turns out that it was in a flood and it full of mudd; today after school I am taking the hose and going under the jeep and spraying off as much mudd as I can get,

    does anyone have any suggestions on how I should go about cleaning it up.

    thanx,
    lawrence

    Rent a steam clean/pressure hose if you can. It will save you a lot of work. Just be careful around electrical stuff.

    If you can get it on a lift and clean it, it will also help. But no matter what you do, be prepared to get DIRTY!

    Attack the worse part first!!!!!!!!!

      thanx sam; yeah I plan on getting very very dirty; also plan on wearing an old mask to keep me protected from mudd spray;

      the powerwasher may work, I think my dad has one at work, but I will probably just use the hose; I won't be renting anything;

      another question, there is mudd inside the body panels, any idea on how to get that out of there?

      thanks again

              ok I will do that when I get home I will do that;

              the engine, well I have been driving it for the last week and a half now, the compartment looks pretty clean.
              the only engine trouble I am having is that when I start the jeep the starter runs for about 5 seconds before the engine catchs, so i don't know if that has anything to do with the flood; its got 100k miles on it;

              thanx for the help

                    first disconnect the battrie before you power wash it!

                    then let it dry for a day before you reconnect the battrie.

                    then just power wash the heck out of it.

                    if it is old and you dont care much about it, pull back the carpets a little and drill holes in the floor boards to let the water out.

                    you can allways use some silcone to seal them back up latter.

                    do the same in the doors, drill a hole or 2 in the bottem of the door so it can drain.

                    if you do drill in the floor boards drill from the underside of the body. as not to hit any lines if you went from the top.

                    this isnt going to be fun, just keep washing.

                    if it dosent seem dry dont reconnect the battrie till it feel compleatly dry.

                    hope it helps.

                      LOL I was going to mention drilling holes, but didn't. I have even seen larger holes drilled and actual plugs put in.
