anyone else mountain bike?

just wondering if anyone else mountain bikes (for real) here. i go a lot and today i threw myself and my crappy hand-me-down bike ($60 fork, psh) off a 4 foot drop, while my older brother hucked himself and his santa cruz bullit (beautiful bike) off a 5 1/2 footer onto flat land. it was intense. anyone else mountain bike? XC is cool (FOR PUSSIES!) but i think it would be cool to meet another biker who likes flying off drops and jumps and stuff. i do a lot of urban assault biking too.

so, anyone else as crazy (call it stupid if you must) as me?

I got a cannondale 700sx.....

I like to do downhill now. I take trams up to the top of the mountain and ride down and go off jumps..

The most fun I had was just going off huge dirt jumps and suff. Also bulding ramps and jumping my friends (hehe). I have had some bad wipeouts though. Going down a local mountain here at about 20 mph and didn't see how dusty and sharp a turn was so i skidded and slammed on my front disc brake. I then flipped over the front of my bike and skidded for about 10 ft. and then my bike landed ontop of me. Fun stuff.

Probably the biggest drop i've done is 6ft. but that KILLS my Cannondale since its a XC bike. I want a Rockey Mountain Switch so i can do more hardcore stuff. (well i REALLY want a santa cruz v-10 but thats $5000)

Yeah, I bought a XC bike when I first got into biking. Since I am from a BMX background.. I started jumping hte day I got my bike. Its pretty much totaled. Im lookin at a Kona Stuff right now. Hartail.. decent fork, mech disk brakes and under a grand. Right now I have a Kona Blast.

Although I have looked at a Specialized Big Hit Comp. 1600 with a really nice parts spec.

My biggest drop on my current bike is 3 feet- And consider my bike rigid 30 mm travel fork..

yeah i wish i had a nice bike, i have a giant yukon or something, judy TT fork, total piece of crap, i already smashed the wheel, and i got a feeling that the frame will snap if i got over 5 feet.

my next bike is probably gonna be a specialized BigHit (just the normal bighit). its a solid, but a bit heavy bike. a good 5-6 in of travel in the back, and 120mm fork. all for $850

hey gitaroo man i know its heavy but is it too heavy to do bunny hops and stuff and goin slowly and pulling up to go off drops? what about pretty long rides is it too heavy for that?

no, its great for drops and...bunny hops...hmm. Well you have to be good at them in order to do it on the bighit but its possible

my brother has a bullit, i ride with him, trust me, i know its a far nicer bike. my spending limit is $0 as of now, and im going to have trouble convincing my parents to help me buy a new bike, so im aiming for the bighit, its a great deal for the money, and it will work well for what i want to do

I was in a few races when I was in high school. It's a lot of fun. I'm at school now, and I don't want my bike to get stolen, so I use a crappy old bmx bike to get around. The bike cost 5 dollars at a yard sale, I got brakes for it for 20 bucks, and the lock cost 7 bucks. I ride that bmx bike everywhere. It would be a lot nicer if I had my mountain bike. It's nothing special, I think it's a rockhopper.

We have this one kid who goes to our school that is awesome on a mountain bike. I see him all the time. He hops around on it. He'll just bunny hop ontop of stuff. It's like watching the trial dirt bikers. He's sick.
