I'm not a hacky sack player. Used to play occasionally when I was younger but never really "got" the idea behind it.

As the author of the newspaper article stated this study is trying to find a solution for an open space problem we (the citizens of Portland) didn't know we had. I've been to the square many times but most of the time it is in the summer. Even in the summer there is a small group of hacky sack players kicking that little thing around but its not a problem. They don't intimidate the rest of us from using the square (it is a pretty darn big square). If anything the area that they use to play in gets smaller when more people are using the area.

I really don't have a problem with an ice rink but I don't see the need for one either. Just don't tell me it is to solve hacky sack player dominance! :) Talk how surrounding retail in other cities where this was done had increased volume. Discuss how the cities made money from ice rinks in other areas. At any rate I just thought it was a humourous study to share with AO.

LOL, thats hilarious. It looks like one of those news stories that would be on those fake news sites.

While there intentions are good, the way they worded it is hilarious(and frankly, it makes them look retarded).

So the fact that the city government is solving problems that don't exist is not news? The fact that they spend money on a study that concludes people using a six foot diameter of a city block are dominating that block and we need to that and ice rink will alleviate the domination of hacky sack players is not news? Personally I thought it was a very good article.
