The problem is shartley is right. It doesnt stay on topic. It quickly went from "Should MJ be legal" to "Hey I do it it makes me a better person and it doesnt hurt me". About half the people involved were not debating AT ALL the benifits of legalization, they were only argueing about personal experiences and when they like to smoke :-/

Plus logging on to AO and finding threads about WHO SMOKES POT also?? Thats more than a little overboard.

Good point. And this has been a little over done. Seems like one pops up every other day. Its not good for the board in the long run. This latest spat of them we let ride for a while to let everyone get it out of thier system but at some point we will have to cut that off. Its getting about to that point.

Heats point here was valid in that he was calling attention to a lot of members are about a little tired of that debate. So for the majorities wishes lets wrap this up and let it drop.

We Mods have been discussing this lately and are about to have to crack down but we were allowing it to run its last course. And thats what we were talking about for the last few days in private. So no need to advise. We are dealing with it as we feel is best.

Freedom of speech. Remember that? Theres a lot more useless clutter on these boards besides drug debates. Legalization was not the only topic the thread starter was debating. Banning gun threads...whats next? What annoying topic will be banned next? You're on the internet. Its a public forum. You have to deal with the consequences that go along with it.

When you walk through a book store, you have to walk passed several undesireable topics to get to what you want. That doesn't mean they should remove these books. I'm playing Devil's advocate. I dont think these topics should run rampant, but banning them is not the answer.

I love the freedom of speach argument. It doesn't hold water here. You abide by the rules here and some things are against them. And you can excersize your freedomes on some things else where. Sorry that one doesn't cut it....

If theres no devils advocate to be played, then keep your mouth shut. If its not a public forum, then you have no say. Tom has the ultimate say. So until he steps in theres no issue plain and simple.

You can't have it both ways. You can't as a user decide what you like or dont like, and push your opinions on the masses, but then turn around and say "Its not a public debate"

Both our opinions are valid, but its not up to us. Besides...You are far from being in a Christian book store. Like I said, you are on the internet. They're are much cleaner places to be if you dont like it here.

Shartley, stop being a baby. I didn't direct anything towards you. I didnt quote your entire reply like you always like to do. And yes, I did read the rules. It doesnt mention the word "drugs" any where. It does mention NO religion, so good job breaking the rules with your Christian book store analogy. I'm not looking for a fight. The fact that you always turn it into one, says a lot. Everyone knows you're notorious for being abrasive and combative.

My only point, which I think I stated clearly is: Its not our decision to make. Its Tom's decision, and he's given that power to the moderators. The rules also state: dont ask to be a moderator. So good job infringing on that rule too buddy.
