    problems with HL and my video card

    hey i got a probelm, mabey someone can help me. when i run Halflife it only lets me use software video decoding i tried every setting but it says that my video card doesnt support it. i have a herculese prophet 4000xt 32 mb pci video card. i have the latest drivers and i cant get it to work. there is a video card on the mother board with 4 mb ram and its AGP bus (its also made by intel) and it will let me play the game with opengl, its slow and im not taking advantage of my new video card. someone please help me!

          Download the latest drivers for your Herc videocard. Make sure that it is digitally signed for XP. Also one of XP's sercurity updates has slowed down alot of pc's. Can't really remember which update version though. I'll try to find tomorrow.

                  Did you uninstall the previous drivers before installing it and that XP had the latest drivers?

                      download the latest update for half life as well. what mode are you trying to run the game in? your card might not support opengl, try running the game in direct 3d.

                          the prophet is a geforce it uses open gl NOT 3dfx but the card has issues.
                          Un install the driver download the lastest detonator driver from www.nvidia.com
                          install the drivers download opengl Tweak utility from www.guru3d.com
                          DO NOT OVERGLOCK THIS CARD it's really sensitive in the teak utility you will find a button "fast settings"
                          click it and switch to the tab open Gl and click v-sync, close the tweak utility and reboot

                          in Half life just use the standart opengl driver (DEFAULT SETTING) at your fav resolution and it WILL work... but you pry won't get more then 60 frames per second with v-sync on but you NEED v-sync

                              When you boot up, hit delete and go into the Bios.

                              Make sure you have the onboard Video disabled and the AGP slot enabled.
                              All your farm animals are belong to us.

                                  Ya disable the AGP slot for the built in in the bios or a jumper on the mobo. No need to enable the AGP slot he has a PCI card.
