I dunno about you, but I love MSG. It's interesting how MSG itself doesn't really have a taste... but you can really tell the difference if you make something with or without it.

No. That is all a myth, similarly as to how aspartame can harm you... which is also not true. Some people don't react well to MSG though... I'm just glad I'm not one of them.Originally posted by LawFox32

It is not bad for you, except for those who are sensitive to it (headaches and stuff). However, there is a prevalant myth that it is bad for you... and MSG is often associated with Chinese food. It is a selling point to advertise no-MSG... although if it had MSG the food would taste better and do no harm.

actually, those of you who claim to have eaten straight msg and say it tastes good either have superhuman taste buds or are lying because msg has absolutely no flavor of its own, it merely amplifies the existing flavor in the food, that is why food with msg in it has no distinct flavor
