wyn1370 may have been a little crass. But it is a point to seriously consider.

There hasn't been a war yet where the troops weren't motivated with "God is On Our Side" by BOTH sides of the battle.

The truely galling thing is that both sides are usually breaking the number one commandment/law in their religion.

Christian, Protestant, Jew, Hindu, Sikh, Muslim all preach tolerance, respect, and list killing as the highest sin. Yet all religions have been used at one time or another (and currently)to justify killing and/or intolerance.

I agree that killing people isn't a good thing, but it isn't the worst thing you can do in the Christian faith (not religion). And God sent the Jews (his chosen people) to war many times in the OT.

Anyways, just thought I'd share where my heart is on that. Back to the NDOP, it's cool to think of so many people that will be praying on that day. Not that people don't pray everyday.

The first commandment is to have no other gods before the Lord God. I think thou shalt not murder is like 4th. Anyways there is a definite difference between an act of murder and killing in war. God commanded the people if Israel to kill others in war several times. I also think that there is a differnce in war because usually it is a just government action trying to protect innocent people who cannot protect themselves.

If it is student-initiated, prayer can't be hindered at school. I think that is how the law is being interpreted. The school just can't be the one to organize or initiate it. So, for the NDOP, if you are in school at noon, pray if you want.

Also, I believe it is stated that there is a time and place for everything, and everything includes war
