My Kid gets Corp Commander position!

Yep! He just recieved word that the top position is awarded to him and he recieves his rank and command next Tuesday at "Pass and Review" to be Cadet Corp Commander of his ROTC unit for his Senior year (next year).

We will have his Grandfather, a carrier Air Force Officer (retired) pin his rank on him in front of the entire Corp.

First of all, Congragulations, its quite hard to get that position. I will find out who will be our company commander for my NJROTC unit shortly at our military ball. I hope I get it when I am a senior, I'm on my way. Is this JROTC or ROTC? If its ROTC, wow, i would be incredibly proud. Your son is on his way to successful career.

i did the JROTC route myself and had an awesome time... and it was the easiest 2 stripes I ever earned in the military!

Anyhow if its real ROTC I give much more props and congrats to that! God knows how difficult them officer schools are to progress in let alone be at the top of the class.

In anycase I wish him lots of luck with his new command

Thanks Guys. I am indeed proud of him. And no he is in High School so it is Jr. ROTC. But still very hard to get it and it looks good on the Resume for sure! Incomming Commander in HS is accepted at the last major event in the school year because there is Summer Leadership school and preparation for next years as well and the Senior Commander is graduating so they will not be there to do it. So they install the upcoming Senior one (Junior now) at end of years Pass and Review. That will be next Tuesday. I and his Grandfather will pin on his rank when he formaly takes command at that ceremony. This way they can end the years business with the new Commander in place to prepare for the Summer Leadership School and finish out the last few weeks of school. If they waited until next year the Corps would not have an active Commander until Fall and no Summer activities would get done.
