Do you believe the U.S. landed a man on the moon?

Well I've decided to ask AO this question after seeing a video today in my US History class. It was a conspiracy theory video saying that the U.S. never landed a man on the moon, an it was broadcasted on Fox about 2 years ago. Before seeing the video, I believed we landed on the moon, after seeing, well my mind has swayed to say the least. I'm not certain either way, but the evidence they presented in the video was very convincing to me. The evidence that wa in the show dealed with the following:
-no blast crater on the moon from the Apollo 11 and later missions
-American flag waving on the moon (when there is no air, wind, etc on the moon)
    -Radiation
-technology dealing with the people who made the rockts for the Apollo 11
    -certain things in the photographs
-the appearances and shadows of the astronauts in the photographs and video

There was more evidence, but seeing it all together and hearing the conspiracy theorists on the show say it made for a pretty convincing argument to me. It has swayed me some to really wondering if we did actually go to the moon and if it was a hoax. So AO, do you believe we landed on the moon?

    for once a good thread...

actualy thinking about what you mentioned, it does raise some questions, using some space teloscope couldnt you just look for the flag at the location it should be? Also if it was a hoax why send more "missions" ? why not say there is all we need to know about the moon. stuff like that

I saw the show when it first aired. It was very convinving actually. But the one thing that caught my attention was the flag thing. The fact that it couldn't sway in the wind since there was no wind kinda of bothered me. Someone wanna do some research on this?

        wires

awww the flag in the magic wind, this is what the whole conspiracy ends up on. the flag in the wind, i know how they did. they used wires to give it the effect of it in the wind, how do you think the flags stands up and just doesn't fall down, and you could say it was still on a wearhouse somewhere, and i have seen photos how the stand of thingy from apollo 11 some guys with one of those big telescopes that is at atop of a mountain, took a pic of it, ill try to find the web site i saw it on, the guy spent years looking

I admit after I saw the Fox special questioning weather we went to the moon or not there were many things that sounded pretty convincing to me. But I still beleived we had really done it. Eventualy I stumbled on to this web page witch pretty much will answere any questions and doubts I had about us going to the moon. If you actualy take the time to read it, its pretty obvious. Anyways Link:

          Hope this helps.

of course we did! once the chinese (and this is something they were going to do) build a giant tellescope that can see the moon's surface clearly, to see if we actually landed on the moon and prove us wrong and see that we actually did land on there, those stupid conspiritists better STFU!!!!!!!!lol

Im glad someone posted that link. Thats a great site about astronomy and common misconceptions. It answers all the questions that "show" brought up.

Hey I love a good conspiracy....but the Lunar landing hoax show makes me want to punch my TV.

When asked if he really landed on the moon, by a well known "conspiracy" reporter. Buzz Aldrin flattened him with a well placed....and deserved, punch to the nose.

"You are a complete fool if you really believe what you write. I was there, you idiot, and if you ask me that again, I'll hit you again."

The Police who responded, asked the reporter to leave before Mr. Aldrin punches you again.

We stopped the moon landings, since each landing only reaffirmed discoveries made from the first two. The soil is nothing different, really, than what we have here on earth. No evidence of water, or mineable ores could be located.

Everything in the "mystery" photos is easily explained by the types of cameras they had to use, type of film required, the fact that there was NO atmosphere to compensate for. The flag is obviously "wired" to remain in a flying position, any moron can see that.

If any of you guys honestly doubt the technology, determination, and bravery of America to land on the moon...well, there is nothing I can tell you that will change your minds. The worlds largest rocket, the worlds most powerful engines, the highest trained pilots ever, metalurgy and fuel advancements that were unthinkable 20 years prior, would all be lies to you anyway.

Why would we fake it? Did the spaceship simply go up into space outside our atmosphere and come back down a few days later... in those few days we were able to magically make photos and video?

I don't believe this crap, I know we went to the moon, US wouldn't fake stuff like that, we have no reason to... "Hahah we went to the moon before you!" is nonsense, we wouldn't fake something as big as that for the one sole purpose.

I think you're eally underestimating what the Cold War was like. Getting to the moon was a very important goal at the time.

Granted, I still think we really did land there.

I think he's really underestimating the US.

Also, see the the video and you'll understand. The Russians had beaten us in the major categories before the moon landing (first to send sattelite and a man into space).

The conspiracy theory dealing with the photos dealed with evidence based on lighting and objects that were in every picture. In every picture, there were crosshairs and the crosshairs were supposed to be in front of the object of the photo. In several photos though, the crosshairs are behind the objects (mysteriously). Evidence having to do with lighting was that the only true light source for the astronauts in space was the sun. In certain areas though, the sun is clearly behind the astroanauts (their backs are facing it) yet the astronauts front prospects are clearly shown and this is with other objects too.

Also there was evidence dealing with how Armstrong could maneuver the landing so well yet there was training video shown of his a month before the launch were he crashed a simulated one (real flight though) and barely himself ejected to save his life. And there was evidence dealing with how the cameras were mounted on the astronauts and how inconvient they were to use and how hard they were to take good photos, yet all the photos were perfect really.

There was also evidence dealing with untimely deaths of people they thought may know to much or say something. But I won't go into that.

One eye browsing thing for me though was the radiation subject dealign with the radiation once you get beyond 500 miles above Earth (I forget what's called). He wondered how all the astronauts could come back with such perfect health when they didn't have very much protection in either the ship (paper thin walls) and the suits. The guy said, "how come if NASA is so certain of there suits protection against radiation, then why don't they send someone with their suit to the inside of Three Mile Island to clean up the radiation there?"

I really want to believe that we did land on the moon and I truley hope all this stuff is just coincedence, but it raised some questions in my eyes.

Bad: The other ``identical background'' segment shows an astronaut on a hilltop. A second video shows two astronauts on the same hill (and this time it really is the same hill), and claims that NASA itself says these two videos were taken on two different hills separated by many kilometers. How can this be? They are obviously the same hill, so NASA must be lying!

Good: Never attribute to malice what you can attribute to a mistake. A videotape about Apollo 16 ironically titled ``Nothing So Hidden...'' released by NASA does indeed make that claim, but in this case it looks to me to be a simple error.
This seems to be the least "disproved" point. Something they can't disprove, they say it was a simple mistake. Their out to get us!
