I have the Zen. I like it, but I wish the screen was bigger. Thats really my only gripe. The iPod is probably a better device, but the Zen was much cheaper, and has both firewire and USB.

I got an Archos unit. They're real nice, especially with the Rockbox OS. And they can record.

Eh, no firewire here.....just bought me a USB 2.0 Zen. USB 2.0 is faster than firewire anyway.

Just got mine... I had to put tags on every one of my mp3s. Spent 8 hours straight, got it done in one sitting. 4000 mp3s take a long time...
I love it though, greatest piece of music playing machinery since the walkman...
I'd recommend one and personally like it better than the iPod.Comment

iPods all the way.
The little, light, and awesome toy is so amazing. I want to the Apple store not too long ago and was blown away.
Excellent sound quality and looks to kill.
BUT, it only supports MP3s and ACC(or is it AAC). It can act as a harddrive and has had a recent plethoria of accesories, including a battery that can expand the amoung of playback you get, which could also be used to expand the iPod's usage beyond 2 years( or 18 moths, whoever you believe). Its really amazing. The price may be steep too.
iRiver has also something called the HP-120. Another 20gb device with color screen(I think). Cnet gave it good reviews.
Get full-length product reviews, the latest news, tech coverage, daily deals, and category deep dives from CNET experts worldwide.
That place will guide.
Also, Rio's Karma, now in 20 gigs, is super small and also pretty cool.
Its all dependent on how cool you want to look, how much you want to spend, what kind of audiophile you are, and if you want to be part of the newest trends(iPod swapping).
I was thinking about holding out on buying an iPod in hopes of a newer design that supports Bluetooth, so I could use Tuna audio broadcasting(you can listen to what others are listening to, and you can listen to what they are plating). But its gonna be a while. *shrug*I wish I wasn't broke....Comment
