    Question: Cracking your fingers

i have gotten into the habit of cracking my fingers, for about 4 weeks now and i crack my fingers like every five minutes, and i dont even konw that i do it.

so my questiont: Is it bad to crack your fingers?

and also someone told me that it is bubbles of gas burning when it makes the crackle noise but, that does not seem right

I believe it's literally moving the bones over each other, cracking them into and out of joints. I have heard that it will speed up exponentially the alzheimers, or whatever it's called, therefore you will have painful joints within a few years if you keep cracking your fingers every 5 minutes

    speaking of which... *Crack*...lol
Once you have shot and eliminated someone, you have established your position towards them. In a sense, the next move is up to them...

See ya in the dead box!

I thought it was little tiny air bubbles inside the joints, when you apply pressure to the finger, it causes the bubbles to pop, cause a "crack" noise.

i believe it's the sound of ligaments and tendons slipping over you finger joints that makes the sound

It's okay to mix peas and corn. But don't call it "porn".

I asked my Advanced Human Phys teacher this exact question, and it is NOT BAD to crack your knuckles or any joint for that matter.

It actually HELPS by releasing unneeded preassure in those areas, so CRACK AWAY!

slipknot is right, it is tiny air bubbles popping and escaping from the space inside your joints. dont ask me how, but i saw it on the discovery channel so it must be true.

well for what its worth, my orthopedic surgon told me that the only joints in the body that "cracking" wont lead to long term damage is the back/neck. the spine has discs instead of fluid. the "cracking" of other joints forces the fluid in the joints out and over time less and less fluid will return to lubircate the joints. when you "crack" your joints often you will notice swelling around the joints. that is the fluid built up outside of the joints waiting to either reenter the joint or to be absorbed back into the body.

my dr is pretty wacky so who knows if he was just blowing smoke, but i listened to him and i still pop my knuckles many times a day.

what the hell, so many different reasons to explain it

my fingers are already like swelled at the joints cause i have jammed them so many times so i cant really tell if cracking made my fingers swell
