Thanks to My Country and Everyone I've Served with!

It's been 7 1/2 years and my time has come. I will be parting ways with the U.S. Air Force via Honorable Discharge on 31 May 2003.

It hasn't always been easy, but I've got to admit that I've been spoiled by the military. I get 30 days (at least) off a year, get to travel all over the globe (for free), and I don't have to worry about job security. However, in exchange for those things, I've had to give up 3 anniversaries, 2 birthdays, and 3 Christmases. The Air Force has given me the opportunity to get an education or two, and I've met a lot of great people and made a few friends for life.

Finding a civillian job isn't as easy as I thought it might be. I've been realistic about the job market, but it's still disappointing when there are a lot of jobs out there that you qualify for, but don't get hired for.

Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone I've served with, in ALL branches of the military. I've made friends with Soldiers, Sailors, and Marines (sorry, never met a Coast Guard person!), officers and enlisted alike.

If you do decide to join the military, no matter which branch, just remember to be proud of what you are doing. It doesn't matter what some celebrity says, your nation IS, and always WILL, be grateful for your service and sacrifice.

    --Jeremy

P.S.--I may not post again on here for a while, due to job hunting, but I WILL BE BACK!!

Thank you for serving our great nation. While you are leaving, I will be entering the Army, hopefully. I just need to pass a certain medical "problem". If I pass, I will be going into Satellite Communications.

                  thank you

my biggest regret I have about my life is that i didn't join the military. When my time came I was such a couch potato it seemed like "too much work" for what you get. Never the less I can apprisiate the job you and those like you do to make this country as great as it is.

It changed recently due to a career field split. Anyway I'm Electronic Countermeasures (ECM), or Electronic Warfare (EW)--whichever you prefer...

Thank you everyone for your kind words and wishes. I never thought that I would be sad to leave the military, but it's like a close-knit family, or an exclusive club--not everyone you meet has served, and those whom you do come across, who have served, you have something uniquely in common with them--a sort of bond...and that is a great feeling!

Thanks for your time. I'll be joining you in the unsurity of becoming a civilian again. I'm out in year and 8 months. The last 4+ years have been a great experience. At any rate good luck, and show those civilians what hard work and discipline can produce (even if we are the chair-borne rangers).

I guess they don't call us the Chair Force, Care Force, or Air Farce for nothing huh?
