Who likes Rush?

Anybody here like Rush? They're alright...some is repulsive, but they got Neil Peart...best drummer in the world right there.

I found rush after becoming obsessed with dream theater...

Some of their stuff is aight, but i'm still hooked on Mike Portnoy...WAY better than Neil Peart.

I've listened to Rush since the mid 70's when I was in jr High. They're a mainstay in the Canadian rock scene.

agreed.. but they have somewhat the same style, I like rush, but I like DT much more.. and Portnoy's set is friggin gigantor.. I'd say its unnecesarry, but he actually uses all of his drums/cymbals.

Listen to Liquid Tension Experiment. I have the Portnoy drumming DVD and it shows the kit that he uses for LTE and its much smaller - but he still kicks out equally amazing stuff.

Play Rythm Method with one hand.

I can't play favorites with DT and Rush though. As a group DT rocks the shizzie, but Rush has Peart who is, IMO, a better drummer than Portnoy. Peart has more musicality in his style whearas Portnoy just plays really really, REALLY fast.

I like Rush. Not my fav band, but definitely way up on the list. I'm just mad that I couldn't see them live either of the times they were by me last year

yeah i have that video.. its really good.
ever hear of marco minnemen? he is AMAZING at drums, hes from holland or something like that, but he plays mostly new style jazz.. much better than portnoy to say the least (on his video anyway).

who_311 is a thug
