I was thinking of getting a Hayabusa. Looking for some opinions. I am a big guy so I like a big bike. I also heard that its a comfortable ride for being such a powerhouse. It gets good gas mileage too. LMK if anyone has opinions or anything. I am not looking for a supersport bike. Thanks.
Anyone own a Hayabusa???

Not looking for a supersport?? This thing is the fastest production bike in the world - deathtrap if you ask me. On a lighter note, the Hayabusa is pretty sweet looking and is probably a great ride. Personally, I'm looking to get a SV650S here shortly - an engine size that doesn't scream "death" yet has that "get up and go" that everyone prefers. Just my $.02

technically
its not classified as a supersport. Although it is superfast. From what I read though its supposed to be comfortable enough to be ridden all day. I spoke with a guy today who has one and he said if it didn't have massive power it would be on the verge of being a sport tourer.Comment

I see in your profile that you are over the age of 25, also known as the insurance price drop. That's a plus for the Hayabusa.
Me, I'm gonna be paying an arm and a leg in insurance for a couple more years.

way over 25
I'm 32. I have had the same bike for the last 17 years. 1982 honda cb900custom. I am ready to graduate to a sport bike. I just checked the insurance today. full comp and collision with a 250 ded. is 700 per year. compared to the 50 for liability i pay now....it's a lot.Comment

Wow, that's higher than I'd expect. Maybe it's because of where you live, but I checked on insurance for the SV and it was $410 for comp and collision for the year and I'm 23. I also live in Nebraska if that has much to do with it - a clean driving record helps too.

I have a spotless driving record for the last 7 years. I think its high because its a 1300 and I live in NY. My friend has a 98' yamaha v-star 650 and he pays 1300 in NJ. I guess i should be happy. and you should be more happy
..lol

NJ sucks for Ins.
Be glad your not in NJ. I just found out my carrier is leaving Jersey, my agent transfered me to a new carrier. I just received the renewal notice. I went from $650 full coverage a year to $1600!!! Thats with a $650 good driver discount! WTF! Needless to say I'm searching for a new carrier.Comment

Hmmm... SV650............I had one of the original SV's back in 99, the bike was much fun. This was before they released the "S" here, but that was Ok because I perfer the completely naked look anyway.Originally posted by ProjectMag

It will be atleast another year before I get another bike, I can't decide if I want to pick up a SV1000, VTX1300C, or start building my own Chopper. I'm leaning towards the last, but it will take me around 18 months or so, and I would have to rent a storage space to keep/build it( I hate living in an apartment)2003 SuperBowl Champions!, THE New England Patriots!

chopper is of course way better. I want a sport bike now though. Chopper later. Maybe Orange county or West Coast....yeah right...i wish. Anyway. choppers are cool though don't compare to a vtx. I couldn't wait that long though either.Comment

myself and sportbikes dont mix.... just too uncomfortable to ride.... and for me no fun after the first 10 min....
i perfer the cursier satlying myself.... i started on an '82 kawi 440ltd, more of a standered style but even that got to be uncomfortable to ride..... now i'm on a '99 maurader... got plenty of giddy-up, a nice set of not-to-loud cobra pipes but has a great low, bassy growl to it and a nice comfy seat.....
with my riding style it suits me fine and the comfort level is a big plus with me with my bad back and 2 pins in one side of my hip...
but in the end it dont matter what we ride, as long as we are all out there in the wind

no doubt
I was also concerned about not being able to ride for long trips. I spoke to several guys who own Hayabusas and they say they are comfortable and can ride all day. My friend has a Ducati 996R. He can only ride about 45 minutes and he is wore out. He also rides all out though. (crazy) Wrecked his last one on a turn. Ouch
