Help, i think USPS stole my $$$!!!

Alright so like the title says i think my $$ got stolen en route thru the USPS.

I bought 2 Half-Life servers (CS and DPB pm me for details) and the total bill for the month + setup fees came to $70. Now since the person hosting the servers for me only lives like 45 minutes away i decided that i didnt want to spend the extra $5 to make out a money order so i just took 3 20's and a 10 and wrapped them in a piece of paper and folded the paper up so it was pretty thin, then i stuck it in the envelope and looked at it with a bright light above it to make sure you couldnt see the $$ inside.

Then i proceeded to mail it at the nearest Post Office, it has since been 6 days and it still has not arrived at his house!

I'm not sure what to do, should i call the Post Office that i sent it thru or what?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. (and before you say "DONT SEND CASH THRU THE MAIL!!!" i vow to never do it again, so dont tell me that again)

Edit: my main idea as to what happened is that someone took the evelope, but it MAY have been lost somehow so dont go flaming me for "insulting" the USPS..please, i just want help, not insults or flames

The problem is, there is no way to trace cash. I don't think there is anything you can do about it, you can't prove you sent it, USPS can't prove it was delivered or not, the receiver can't prove he didn't get it.

Get a money order, and learn your lesson.

OK, think of it this way. The USPS handles millions of pieces of mail daily. They don't lose much either. When was the last time you lost a regular letter?

If like you said you could not see thru the envelope, they couldn't either. They dont have time to check each letter in hopes of getting your money. Postal workers are usually well paid. Is it worth losing that high paying job to steal $70?

Now ask yourself, just how well do you know and trust the person you sent the money to?

Just something to think about.

I bet he sent it to a company? I doubt a company would risk it all for $70

if it was a company, what one was it?

yeh, i always tell people NOT to send me cash....because if it gets lost, it can make me look as if i took the cash and said hte package never came.

i've already dealt with this guy before, talked to him on the phone, got his phone # and address, i guess ur right, postal workers probably dont have the time to check out to see if there is $$ in it

i'm pretty sure i can trust this guy he's risking getting lots of GOOD business from me with a long term business agreement of $70 a month so i dont think he would keep it and tell me he didnt get it

a money order is .95$, id wait it out a little bit before you get to worried maybe it did get rerouted, either he's lying about getting it(its cash its the easiest scam(should have got a delivery conformation for .40 cents)) or the post office stuck it in the wrong truck or its on its way back to because you screwed up the addy...i hope you put a return addy on it

Learn your lesson. Never ever ever send cash in the mail.

It may not exactly be your fault that the money went missing, but you can't really complain about it either.

One time I was on the phone with my friend eating individually wrapped lifesavers(wintergreen in fact), he joked that he wanted one, so I said I would mail him one.

I got an envelope and put a single lifesaver in. I then mailed it to my friend. When he recieved it there was a small slit in the side of the envelope and THE LIFESAVER WAS GONE. To say the least I was horrified.

i MOST DEFINITLEY am NOT complaining, i know it was COMPLETELY retarded of me to send cash and all blame LIES on me for doing this, i was just wondering if i could do anything about it which it seems like i wont be able to, so it looks like i'm just gonna take down my DPB server and not get the CS server unless i can get something worked out or get a lot of people paying for admin
