Computer/Internet help needed guys!

Well I'm home for the summer from school, and I would like to be able to have my own computer connected to the Internet. We have a cable connection for our main computer, and I was wondering how I would go about connecting mine through this connection as well.

What things might I have to buy? What are the different options? What kind of prices are we talking?

Any help/suggestions/experiences on this topic would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

really simple.....

a router..... range from $50 to a couple hundred.... myself i use a linksys one that cost me $70 when i got it a while ago..... also most also work as hubs makes things very easy that way

a network card for your computer

and 2 cat5 network cables.....

setup should look like this... from cable/dsl modem into router, from router to each computer....

thats it... just install the software that comes with the router and you should be good to go.....
