Linux is a great OS but is not ready for the average user.

You could always dual boot, and Linux is great for hosting games. Lots of new multiplayer games come linux-compatible. Then again you can take that piece of garbage 200mhz computer and install linux on it and it will run like a charm. Thats what i did.

hahaha. good luck. wine isn't too easy for a new linux user to set up. in fact, its a pain in the ***...

i like linux. i have this problem with making windows crash. i don't really play any games, so its not an issue for me. if you really plan on playing CS of half-life, or whatever, just dual boot. it'll save you a lot of time and aggrivation.

I use Mandrake and XP on one comp. And I use Debian and XP on the other. I only play UT and it never crashes or anything on Mandrake.

Something else you might like to try is Mac OS X. If you get a Mac, OS X is Unix based.

I'm planning on dual-booting FreeBSD and XP one of these days... and the only game i ever really play is Quake 3 and theres a Linux version of that.

Prolly the only reason I havn't switched to Linux/BSD yet is I am stuck with AOL for a few years...

do a search for winex on sourceforge.net
it tells you that winex is maitained by transworld gaming and no where on that site it says its free.
