Dont you hate being lied to...

Well, as you can see by my title im a bartender, or im trying to be, ive gone to at least 30 places and applied, ive taken a bartending course(two week class) and it was behind the bar learning drinks the whole time except for customer service intervention prosedures test and video(2 days), id say all those hours of non stop drink mixing is good experince wouldnt you, i can understand how some places will look for more experince for busy clubs and such but im just looking for a chance, thats all i ask, ive gotten refrences from my teacher(top mixoligist in the class WootWoOt )and from all my old employers but still nothing, i also understand the tourist have to show up first lol but anyway

I got a job at a Catering company to do bartending some weekends, my first function was today at a local golf course, This copmpany required my to buy about 60$ in tools and 75$ in additonal clothing(tux shirts/polo shirts/pants and such) so i show up to the function 20 minutes early to make sure i can find the place and to set up.
So once inside i head up to teh bartender there and tell him im with teh catering company and that i need an apron so he sends me out back to talk to the function coridinator, i speak to him and say hi my names dan blah blah blah and im bartending today, he basically laughs at me and says you sure your at the right place buckaroo??...BUCKAROO? (who the hell says buckaroo anymore especialy on cape cod) and i tell him cheryl said (insert name of course here) at 1230, so he says lets go talk to cheryl, well it seems that after i was hired they hired 3 other bartenders with more experince, and placed me in a server positon, and that i would be a server until one of teh other bartenders leaves or cant make a function.

(I did not get hired to be a server, if i wanted to be a server i could work at any resteraunt on cape cod and wouldnt have to drive all over the damn cape to do it. )
well cheryl says youll be working as a server today is that okay, and dumbfounded i say okay and say ill be right back i gotta put my tools back in teh car, so on my way out i just get in and drive away, when i got home it was 1225(i was driving fast and luckily for me this course was close to my home) and i call up teh catering company's main office and basically say what is in my ()ontop of this paragraph, and that i dont like being lied to and that this is an inapropriate way to trick people into being servers, and that ill have nothing to do with this company, and quit, beofre ever really working my first day within 30mins i quit. Its just such garbage that they didnt even let me know that i wouldnt be bartending(tehy called me yesterday for crying outloud all they had to do was say hey we wont need you as a bartender tommorow), anyway thats my rant, if you took time to read it thanks... this is just the most devious thing ive seen a company do(i spoke to one of teh other"bartenders" and he said that they did the smae thing to a girl last week and she walked out too)

    see ya

That sucks hard man. Maybe you should first look for a position as a bar back, you know, getting ice for the bartenders and more liquor. That is what I do now, and I have only been doing it for 3 weeks and they are already making me take a mix test to become a bartender. I'm only 18 and I never went to any schools or anything.

damn, im sorry to hear that. If I owned a bar I'd hire you, you have the desire to do it and I'm sure you'd do a great job. Just keep your head up, something will pop up before you know it.
