Do VCD's work in a ps2? I really dont think so.
But even if they did, I dont think the ps2 will do the mpeg
Have you tried it in a regular DVD player?

        PS2 / XBox won't play VCDs.

Having a DVD player doesn't even help since most of them don't play VCDs either. Only certain DVD players will play VCDs.

            PS2

I think the ps2 has something in it that wont play copied cds. Same thing with watching a DVD through a TV with a VCR attachment..(tv and vcr combined in 1). It will play fuzzy because the ps2 thinks your trying to copy the DVD. So it should have an chip or something that doesnt allow it to play burned cds. Thats why they sell the "mod-chip" to allow you to play burned games.

-Mods, if this is wrong to post about illegal things, edit it or delete it. Sorry, I dont know if what I posted is wrong, etc.

well, that could be right, but i think they're just in the wrong format : )

the mpeg videos you burn off of your computer (most anyway), are mpeg1. DVD is mpeg2. theres a bit of a difference between them.

My DVD player plays some form of burnt movies. I'm not sure how, I'm waiting till my dad gets the DVD burner (Making all our home videos on DVD so they won't die) to burn, but my brother burnt Shrek using just my CDR drive, and played it on our DVD player. I'll find it and see if it plays on my ps2.

                    trust me

PS2 won't play movie CDs, VCD, or S-VCD. They will, however, play burned DVDs. As long as they were burned as Video DVDs not just Mpegs.

mod chips are anywhere from 20$-100$, im not sure of a good place to get them though, try www.lik-sang.com just so you know, some mod chips can be difficult to install and last time i checked every one voids your warranty. as for mpeg2, go to www.doom9.org for guides and a forum.

The only way that I know of to play burned DVD's, Games, etc. is to have a modchip. The PS2's BIOS wont allow burned disks, so the ModChip intercepts it, and allows it to happen(I'm pretty sure thats how it works).

If you want to watch VCD's, just get a DreamCast off eBay, and get a VCD swap disc.
