    Studebaker/Ford XUV

    Yes Studebaker's still in buisness..
It's built on an F250 platform and worked through Avanti/Studebaker. AM General Hummer is suing right now because of the similar appearance.

Does look very similar to a Hummer. I still don't see why anyone would want an SUV that big....

There are a few H2's around here and they are all driven by the soccer mom type... they could probably total my car and not even realize it.

Yea and two of Fords engines supposed to go in it too... if it ever makes it to production. 75 grand is not cheap though. Its more than the Hummer2 but would have better engine choices and the drive train would be heavier than the Hummer2 too.

Yea one interesting thing is this. There were previous looks of the Hummers before GM made em. Early WWII German military Vehicles looked just like it including VW's "Thing" taken from that era and they had many of those charicteristics of the Hummers. And lets not forget that it comes from a design crafted from need and request from the Government of the USA. All of which partialy drove the "looks". So then you as a citizen of the US own that cause you paid for it. And Ford, Dodge and Chevy all taking clues from the "big rigs" down into their medium and lighter truck lines. So who realy owns a "Look" after a while? None of these looks is anything realy new.

We said Hummer how many times now?

Anyway "stealing the look" in the automotive biz = making $$$

Look at the compact SUV market. There must be 30 different makes that offer/look almost exactly alike

Edit: except for that Honda Element yuck

yea its realy just plain smart...If you let the other guy test the market first. I remember back when Toyota came out with thier Tundra...Direct rip off of the 97 and up F150 that so many predicted would not sell but took off like a shot. And so a couple years later Toyota wants to get into the 1/2 Ton market and they do the smart things and incorporate a lot of the look into it. Pretty smart thing to do realy. I mean if BE can patent the fact that a beam of light being interupted will work a switch...Anything is possible.

I thought Studebaker was bought out by Searle GD awhile ago?

Searle was later bought out by Monsanto, then Monsanto was bought by Pharmacia, then Pharmacia was bought out by Pfizer.... heh

i think the h2's are stupid. there an overpriced suburan with a diffrent body. there built on the same chasis and same engine. the h1 is tight.

H2's are rebodied suburbans, but the drivetrain is more advanced. They do have thier uses, but shuttling the kiddies through the city is NOT one of them (That commercial makes me cringe)
