    The White Stripes

What do you guys think of the white stripes. For those of you that never heard of them, some good songs are "Offend in Every way" "We are going to be friends" "Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground" "Fell in love with a girl" "Seven nation army" I have been getting into lighter rock lately so I've looked at alot of the garage type bands and I think the white stripes are my favorite. What do you guys think of them?
You smell like dookie... No really though.

Dead Leaves is a tight song, and being a LEGO junkie in my youth, I love the video for Fell In Love. I also like "We Are Gonna Be Friends." Unfortunately, [they] are just original enough so that everyone who hears them thinks "wow, I'm on the cutting edge of Rock and Roll here," when it really is just two kids. Once a band gets on the radio or TV, I feel that they lose the right to call themselves "indie" or "garage" and certainly not "underground." So what are the white stripes now? Two kids in red slacks. God bless em.

I REALLY don't like The White Strips. The whole red and white thing just doesn't do it for me...

But what makes me mad is the fact that I saw the video for "Seven Nation Army" on MTV (During their 20 minutes a day of actual videos) and I really liked it. So now imagine my distress of really disliking a band but liking one of their songs...

Crest White Strips? Yes, they work great. My teeth are 3 shades whiter!

Ohhhh, White Stripes...yeah, they're ok. Very garage sounding, but the more I listen, the more I like it.

I've seen them live, back before they were on MTV and such.

He is an amazing guitar player, he jams a little during songs live and he is exceptionally good.

Its sad to see blues-based rock and roll making a comeback and all you people can do is whine about their pants.

I was a fan before I saw them, but after seeing them live I was hooked. They are an amazing group, the fact there is just two of them makes it even more amazing. Do you know how hard it is to carry a song with just lead guitar and drums?

I give them tremendous credit for reviving blues-based rock Go see them live, you won't regret it.

well, i will admit, their tunes are catchey, but really, how long can you go with out a song requiring bass? i mean, the bass is the structure of the song, it keeps the structure, while the guitar plays the rhythm/lead to the bass structure, and the drums keep everything in time....

really, they need some bass, it isnt cool to listen to in the car either, since there is ni bass comming out to make you feel the music....

If you like those guys, check out At the drive in, and their two break off bands (they broke up and forms 2 new bands) Mars Volta and Sparta.

                  Good stuff.

Wish the white strips had a bassist though, being a bassist myself.

I think they're pretty good. Not much of a fan as I used to be and there are definately some better indie bands out there but they're still cool. I don't think having a bassist is esential really. I mean this band out of Portland called the Gossip (which everyone should check out) doesn't have a bassist and they're friggen awsome, as well as another band, Hint Hint. I think it just depends on what kind of sound a band is going for.
