    Any Jersey People ....

Going to be in Red Bank, NJ next week to go on site with a client, Monday night to Wedesnday night, and wanted to know if anyone was from around there ...

    Looking for local advice on;

    Great places to eat ...
Anything I should go see ...

    Stuff like that ...

    Thanks,

I'd tell you to hit up Tradewinds, but they are only open Thurs-Sunday. You picked the wrong part of the week for fun

You should take a drive down through Asbury Park. Its a pretty interesting piece of Jersey Shore history.

Or you could drive up Sandy Hook, and go check out the nudie beach.

when in doubt and in red bank... I would stop at "Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash" the comic book shop that is home to Kevin Smith and all the wierd stuff that "Clerks", "Mallrats", "Chasing Amy", "Dogma", and "Jay and Silent Bob strike back" are all about.

Just walk down main street red bank, there is tons of stuff to look at, just as long as you goto the stash first, you might get lucky and meet somebody.

I would'nt waist my time at the nudie beach, not much good there

As for food, "the little Kraut" in Red bank is pretty good German food, as the best german food place I know of in Atlantic Highlands call "Hofbrauhaus"

I'll be taking a client to hofbrauhaus on tuesday next week myself

As for what to do in the area, NJ shore is pretty dead in the middle of the week really. Most places don't book bands before thursdays.

Well something I always enjoyed, (and I'm odd that way) is going to Holmdel to see the AT&T building. I don't think they give tours anymore. But you can gaze at the building where the laser and the transistor were invented. Plus if you can get to 101mph while still on the driveway, you can claim to be in the 101 Crawfords Corner Club. (both the speed and the address.)

I figured you were going to see AT&T, or Lucent.

That building I spoke of is now in Lucent's ownership, as are quite a few of the buildings in the area.

I can't think of a red bank building for AT&T, I assume your client is in Middletown, or Lincroft?

My client is also in AT&T

I'm an independant consultant. Technically I work for me, BOFH, (Bastard Operator For Hire) non-incorporated company.

There are too many people in the Laurel Avenue building for me to guess who you're working with.

I work for five years in Middletown for Bell Labs however. Good place. However, I was in the Red Hill building, and during the split Lucent kicked all the AT&T people out to the Laurel Ave location.

If you need after hours place to go, Redheads, (just south on 35) is a popular destination, and Basil T's in Red Bank was also a popular afterwork place. Also the Little Kuart isn't that far away really.

Chile's was always our Wednesday night drinking destination, because it's really close. I mean it's really really close. Less than a mile or so.

As for go-go bars, (don't know your clients that well, but there are a few on 36, not really any of them worth going, except Bar A (? I don't recall the exact name) but they had nickel wings during lunch, so you really couldn't go wrong I think the new AT&T frowns on dancer lunches, but hey you never know

Yeah I know your nick pretty well ... been working with Unix(HP-UX, SunOS, Linux) now for almost 6 years ... big fan of User Friendly ...

I work for Amdocs, we are coming in to setup a demo of our software for them. I am one of the middleware admins out of Saint Louis. Installing, Set-up, Config, troubleshoot BEA's Weblogic, Tuxedo, IBM's MQ Series, and more ... pretty fun work ... always a good challenge and I get to work on some pretty nice hardware.

Shame no one does open play on Tuesday nights LOL ... I'd bring my gear along.
