    Boss 429 concept...

"The BOSS Mustang is the ultimate boulevard cruising machine that can hold its own on the drag strip. This idea was the brain child of SVT chief engineer, John Coletti, and his team, who sought to mix old with new. They achieved this by dropping a BOSS 429 engine into the body of a 1994 SVT Mustang Cobra.

    The car made 855 horsepower, 790 lb.-ft., and it ran 0-60 in 1.9 seconds, 0-100 in 5.5 seconds, and the quarter-mile in 10.55 seconds @ 135.05 mph."

    feel free to discuss.

that things awsome. they did it in 94 95 i believe. well around there. i just wish they would sell that thing to the public. both ford and chevy have several cars like that. just cars that are fun to build but will never see production.

It would be insane to sell that to the general public. Most people have a hard time handling 0-60 in 6 seconds. Most race cars can't do a 1.5 sec 0-60. The 1/4 time seems a little long for a car with power like that? My guess is downforce or wheelspin is stopping it?

No it can't. I want to see that time slip.

10s is not a bad time at all...does seem like it'd do less though.

either you or your friend is lieing. Because I know what a focus CAN do and what a focus on a company budget can do. the ford SVT team built a focus for drag racing and they couldn't get it to do a 10 sec quarter, so I'm sure you're friend can. My buddy has a 98 SVT Focus with a supercharged v-6 and the thing can only do a 14 sec quarter. Trust me, you see his underhood you'll understand why no v-8 is ever gonna go there.

Didn't mean to be so agressive, sorry. But it's true. And while we're at it, I'm kinda getting tired of reading "my buddy". If YOU don't have it and/or can make pictures to prove it you are just making yourself look like a fool and a liar. Big claims need proof. So let me make an un-writen rule, writen. This goes for 50bps angels as well as cockers that can shoot 5000 feet, cars, your house, you're gold plated m1a1, and that 5000$ fosil watch that supposedly NEVER got released to the public and so it's worth at least 12000$ if not more.

btw, you guys like this car, wait till 2005 and see what ford has for us I got an insider tip lets just say it has Shelby writen all over it

Heat- get me an insider discount?

It does have massive power, but i think the reason its not getting really low times is because its geared a bit too low. 0-60 in 1.5 tells me its got pretty low gearing.

Also, that year mustang isn't really meant for drag racing, they focused more on getting some handling into the cars... and of course making them crappy in the cubes department. (except of course for this beast) Probably doesnt have very good hookup.

For that much power, those tires aren't too wide. They probably wanted to keep at street looking as possible.

Hey rhetor22, is that the 6.1L Boss?

I'm sure the V8 conversion Focus could reach 10 sec

Haventheard about this one, sounds pretty nice though.

Big 'n Slo- if it's a 429ci, it should be a 7.2L approx. Unless they just stuck the 429 name on a 6.1L, which would be about 380ci. Don't have calculator handy, so you can check the math. There are approx. 61.7 cubic inches per liter.
                          - There's no replacement for displacement.

Your right, I didn't read his whole thread.
The 6.1L is a hopped up 5.4L they threw in a 94 Cobra R. It was rated somewhere near 400hp. No where near this claimed 800+
