Are you sure those are the numbers of the Boss mustang? It sounds more like the numbers of the Ford FR500 mustang. It holds the record for fastest car 0 to 100 and back to 0.

Looks like a direct quote though. Still sweet

Ford doesnt have the balls it did years ago concerning mustang development. Of course there are still rumors that the next mustang will be w/o IRS. WTF? Come on Ford lets step into the modern performance market .

              The Focus,
maybe in a few years it will be an aftermarket contender to Honda, however I think it is plagued with the same problems as the Neon, to heavy and not enough motor (less srt-4)

I love when Ford drops these great SVT concepts and the "bean counters" cant seem to make them work.

yeah its bored and stroked, probably has a huge deck.

                10L on this sucker.

I've read about a ford 460 stroked bored and magic heads... 800+ cubic inch.

Really, you just can't beat american for ultimate power. I wonder if anyone is crazy enough to strap a huge International Turbo onto one of these suckers... Nah, probably isn't safe.

I bet its got a mechanical compression ratio of close to 14:1! I mean, it is a big block, but you can't get that many cubes from over boring, thats a huge stroke.

                  FR500
                  Performance :

                  415 horsepower @ 6800 rpm
                  4.6-second 0 to 60 time
                  12.7-second quarter mile
Top speed is about 175 mph
Performance numbers gained on street tires

12.7 from 415 horsepower is phenomenal from a mustang. I've never heard of the FR before it was mentioned in this thread.

4.6L mod bored to 5L... bah, i don't really like the new mod engines too much... I think its just cuz they wont put the 5.4L in the mustang yet. Trucks and stangs should share the same blocks. Different internals of course, but same size blocks

The engines just aren't big enough any more. The 351 was a good size motor. they had a 390 a 400, lots of 428 engines, the super 460, now they just have two small guys. and a v-6 which is craptacular.

I think he said 0-60 in 10.5 seconds, not the 1/4 mile (which is much more reasonable for a focus).

As for the mustang, those numbers don't add up. Given the 0-60 and the 0-100 the 1/4mile should be faster. One of those 3 numbers is wrong. I tend to doubt the 0-60.

Yeah, now that I think of it, and it was late and i was tired when I read this, there's no way it can do 0-60 in 2 seconds.

                      By the way, drive chevy.

it's probably 2.1 sec and just got messed up somehow.

I would believe that given the 1/4 time was good, but not great. I'm thinkin its geared extremely low.

Those drag cars can do 0-100 in about 1 second. Obviously thats a whole other ball game, but its easily possible.

12.7 with 415hp is pretty piss poor. If Ihad 415 in my car I better be cutting at least 12.1.

                            haha,
if I had 415 in mine I would be cutting mid 10's. Only a built motor away

Hmmmm.. so far as the 1.9 ... sounds more like 60ft time than anything else. A mid 10 second car aught to pull around a 3 to 3.5 second 0-60 time.

Now lets talk about fast street cars..... ..

First ... crazy bugger named LJ,

http://para.noid.org/~lj Mid 9s and babying it off the line ... not too shabby for a full interior car with a full exahst and cats.

Second .. even crazyer bugger named Chris

This car has run 8.51 @ 162 ... and does see the street.

yeah, but i said for a mustang. That body style was geared more toward handling than straight line hookup. And with the tires they have on it, thats pretty good to me. I said good for a mustang because we all know 415hp in a GSXR would get you there a lot faster.
