    A task for AOer's

Heres a little job for you all...

I have a 96 Aerostar and am getting chrome windshield wiper blades, now I need to know if they are BOTH 22's on the front or if they are DIFFERENT sizes.

    Thanks in advance fellas.

Call Ford. Every time I have a question I call the manufacturer or one of their dealers. It is usually a pretty good place to start.

Don't always work...my father was provided with a company Ford Focus that was previously another employees who had been "let go" and it didn't have a handbook with it...no biggie but we wanted to look at the layout etc of the engine bay....do you think we could find the release lever? Well due to the time of night all our dealerships were closed so I got on the net and found the numbers of Ford dealers in New York state...rang up 3 and no-one could tell me where the lever was....next day and asking another Focus owner....turns out you need the ignition key and then you flip the Ford badge at the front and there is a keyhole to release the hood......3 dealers and none knew about this weird design....so doesn't always pay to ask the dealerships.

I am almost ashamed to help you chrome out your Aerostar......but yeah, they are the same, the one on the passenger side just folds over the side of the windshield.

Must be those weird European Focus's. Which would also explain why the guys in New York couldn't figure it out!

well that thought occurred to me that maybe the cars were different, but other than the steering wheels on the other side to you guys its all the same....I have never come across a hood release like that before. More likely that the salesmen can answer something about a brochure...the obvious answer would have been "hold on I'll ask the service dept" but then at the cost of the phone call I wasn't thinking that straight and the first thing I asked was wether or not they sold the Focus at that dealership (no point in asking a truck dealer about a car was there)....oh and I had spent 90 mins trying online websites/official Ford ones and fan sites...no mention anywhere and that included european ones I got more info in general from Fan sites than the Ford one. The only time I have found a weird thing on a car was a Peugeot that you had to remove the air filter to put the oil in but then it was a french car and you know how much the english love the french

Maybe your dad got a preproduction one?! I have a Focus(company car) also and it has the standardhood popper at the bottom of the dash!

Yea, they are equal. I ran up and measured my neighbors.

Chuck,Did you ever get all that splatter off yours? It reminded me of a splash shocker I saw once.

Mmmm doubt it as it is a few years old but not as old as the previous one...one thing I did see on the american version website was some of the option packages were different....that could be the reason a special edition ...I had a Granada Estate that was a "bitsa" 'cos of the year there were parts that didn't apply to the number plate, nothing major, but enough for it to confuse a few garages. Ford has habit of using up the parts in its warehouse to produce cars when it is phasing the model out to pave the way for the "new version" whatever.
