Sammy Sosa ejected for corked bat!

I'm pretty sure he'll get an 7 or 8 game suspension. All those that were caught in the past got suspended that many games, so he'll hear from the league soon enough. I really don't think its that big of a deal. I'm sure alot more baseball players do it. They just haven't got caught yet. If you get caught cheating take the fine and suspendsion and move on.

they have the same density of a heavier bat, but with the swing weight of a lighter bat.

I was watching SportsCenter and they said a corked bat swings about 1.1 mph faster than a normal bat. So if Sosa were to hit a 400 foot homer with a normal bat, it be about 404 with a corked one. It may not be much of an improvement, but the fact that he did it and that it's against the rules is what gets me.

He said he used the bat in batting practice. So he would hit more homers, and make the fans happy. They confinscated all his bats. If it's the only one then he's probably telling the truth. If not he may be lying.

aaahhh jeez... Sammy Sosa was my FAVORITE baseball player, probably favorite athlete, of all time. I was always pulling for him over steroid-using Mac during the home run race, and now... this... AGH!!

The ticket prices are much higher at Wrigley. $20 for a mediocre seat. .

I was just watching SportsCenter at 6 PM and they said that 77 of Sosa's bats were checked by the MLB Commisioner's office and none were found to be corked.

It matters because he admitted to useing corked bats in Batting Practice. While denying that he uses them during games. If his other bats were corked, then it be more suspicious that he was cheating. Ruining his rep even further.

The fact that they wern't corked is a good thing. Baseball sucks as it is, they don't need a superstar getting caught cheating. Sosa said he was sorry, and said he grabbed the wrong bat by mistake. He has imbarassed himself, and his team.

He might be lying, and he might not. With 1 corked bat out of 78 it makes his story more believable. It could have been a mistake. If it wasn't i'm sure he'll get caught again down the road.

But if you want to string him up for something that was possiably an accident go right ahead. It just shows how ignorant people can be.

I pointed it out because in an interview after the game, when asked if that was the only corked bat he had, he said yes. So if those were truly his bats that were checked, he'd be telling the truth in that regard.
