    Jeep stereo pics

Some one the other day mensioned something about Jeep stereo and I though I'd show off a little idea I had. If you know anything about me I live up to my nick "Tim Tailor"
From the show Home Improvement. I can't leave ANYTHING the way it was gotta make it better. I started my own buisness, not legally but I do work for friends pretty much word of mouth. Called "Tim's customs" with the slogan "never sacrifice functionality for looks"

Anyway, the problem I had here was that I just didn't like the look and so I filled the X-tra space up with a litte coin tray out of a 89 Mercury Sable. Choped everythging up, used some fiberglass resin to stick it all together then coated it with a few layers of Flat Black paint

Hopefully these will inspire ya'll. And I DO love my Alpine Mp3 player

And one with the dash apart to see that when I get ready to sell the Jeep again, it's a VERY short few minutes to return the Jeep back to factory look.

Dam cool little mod there! So you had the Coin tray and Radio Bezel all as one unit? And then then just moved the whole thing over into the Jeep and fitted it in?

AGD, where we are so good we can do it with only ONE tube!

actually, the coin tray was in a box with a set of cup holders the total size for the box was the size of a standart din stereo deck, which was obviously to big. Since my jeep alreadsy has cupholders and no coin try it was a no brainer what one I was going to keep. Whiped out my dremel and choped the box apart. Then maticulously trimmed the box around the coin tray to the smallest functional size. Cause that tray with the stereo is a VERY VERY tight fit that required some messing around.

Then I used a standard stereo instalation kit for a jeep and cut it up. Originally the kit had teh stereo centered vertically leaving 1/4" on top and bottom of the stereo.... blech. It took some messing around but it's a GREAT idea for ppl who like aftermarket stereos (ME) but don't want a gapping hole with a non-factory look. Last time I was at the junkyard I picked up 3-4 more of these boxes. For other ppls stereo. They can be found in 87-89 ford tauruses and mercury sables. Pry more cars too...but those are the ones I know of. Just happened to be a VERY common car

If you're gonna pull them yourself, then get you'reself a pair of Ford stereo removal tools. it's a 10 sec job after that.
