nice dude, I used to ride. I never raced, but I always wanted to. I started really young, with a 74 honda MR 50. That thing is great. I still have it. Then I got a kdx 80, then went through two cr 125s. If I had enough money, I'd get a new bike. It sure is a lot of fun. I'm in to snowmachines now. A few of my friends race snowcross. Thats pretty sweet, but I still prefer motocross. It's hard to ride dirt bikes where I live. It's always really muddy, or there's snow on the ground. When I moved, I switched from dirt bikes to four wheelers and snow machines.

I ride dirtbikes, and I have "ridden" motocross, but haven't really gotten to experience it yet. I ride a '02 XR200, which is my first bike, but this summer or next, i hope to get a more universal bike, perhaps a KDX or a CRF. Mostly I ride for fun on old roads and stuff... I would get out more, but the damn East Coast is being soaked with rain nearly every weekend.

I'll be honest , those things scare the crap out of me.
I had ridden street bikes for some time before I had ever gotten on my first dirt bike. All the street bikes were 4 stroke , so I didn't know crap about "power band".
I puttered around on his small one a 100 cc Yamaha(bored 80)which I was insanely too large for.Well I convinced him to let me ride his Honda 250.I am really not too keen on dirt bike lingo and whatnot , but this thing was just ready to slap numbers on and race.He had buttloads of things done to it.
I was currently riding a 750 Kawi so I really didn't think this "little" bike was going to be anything at all.I busted off around this little track that was setup and just in the low end I was really impressed. There was a step up jump built on the track and I decided to jump it.
I remembered hearing other bikes goose it just a touch as they got to the bottom of the jump so I figured I would try it too.
Right as I got there there were ruts in the bottom of the jump I was thrown a bit off balance and instead of goosing it a little , I jumped on that thing wide open.It took off up the ramp like a bat out of hell.I must have accelerated 20MPH in like 5 feet(it sure seemed like it).
With all my weight off the back of the bike I couldn't get off the gas so as I went into the air I started soing a backwards roll.I went like 30 feet in the air thinking I was going to land on my back.I pulled my feet out behind me but didn't want to let go of dudes bike.
We landed on flat ground about 10 feet off the landing ramp on my feet and the bikes back tire which I was still gassing. That resulted in it kicking back as I was going down knocking me slap out.I remeber waking up with the bike half way on top of me burning the crap out of me , and the back tire eating a nice gash in my leg.
                    I haven't ridden one since.

It really is amazing how quick those things can go. I tell people that I can hit about 90 on my Dad's XR250, and they always wind up saying, "BS, that a quarter-liter engine", or something like that. People forget that it's not a car, it weighs about 240 pounds + the weight of the rider, so it doesn't need as big of an engine to get the job done.

for the people saying that these little bikes cant accelerate that fast, its just like 125cc shifter carts and stuff. same power/weight ratio as f1 cars
