Dang that's retarded. Maybe they should see what the parents and taxpayers have to say about that.

As much as I hate Macs...there is no way I would turn down something like that.

Well surely its premature to condem them as it seems a decision has not been made. And if their district IT people have no experince in Mac then it would be understandable for them to be affraid of them. However if they would get off their behinds and just do a little research they would find they are so similar to what they do and that just learning the few nuances of them only takes a few minutes. They would find its much ado about nothing. I suspect they will take them in the long run and I suspect that teacher himself can learn enough to keep them running. In our school system the IT guys rarely do much but come out and do networking set up. And Macs are the simplest thing to network. They practicaly go find thier own connections. Its teachers and certain select volunteer parents in our area that maintain the units when something goes wrong. So I suspect they will defer to the school with a note they just will not support them at the district level. Or at least not garantee they will. And some Faculty and Parents will come forward and all will be well. At least I should expect that will happen.

One thing that gets me though is the wording everyone uses in this comparison. "PC" as if its windows based machines only. It's not... PC means Personal Computer. And a Mac certainly is one. OS has nothing to do with that. Now I guess we can assume the Press or whomever talked to the press didn't note that? Or is the application of their policy wording just flat wrong?

                      Blank while BOFH schools me.

Edit: BOFH's school was uninformative and generally useless in this case, but even though I think he is a turdmonkey I will leave this post blank as to not start an arguement.

                        PC means Personal Computer.

Just becuase many people, indeed most people use a term wrong, does not change the definiation of a technical term. Otherwise, I'd be refering to my internet connection as my "AOL LINE" Also my ISO 9660 formated disks would just be "ISO's" and of course, I wouldn't let somebody know that I would crush them with my computer ability, but instead I would inform them to "Ph33r |\/|y 1337 h4x0r sk1llz!"

In the article, I'd chalk the PC name mis-usage to the reporter. The report in question is most likey a mouth breathing turdmonkey, who would not know what PC meant if you hit him with a street sign with the definition spray painted on it.

If they turned it down that would be a pretty stupid move...especially since Macs are considerably better than any PC could ever aspire to be. Of course, that's my opinion.

Hardware-wise, PCs and Macs are darn near equivolent in how they work... with the exception of the cpu architecture and minor stuff.

                              I like 'em both.

The term 'PC' is popularly, although inaccurately associated with x86 machines... PC = x86... although Macs are too really. Confusing.
