    restoring deleted data

i remember hearing that when you delete a file it's not really deleted, the data remains and the computer just thinks it's not there and so the data will stay there untill another file is put in its place. i am in the process of moving a lot of stuff from my d: to c: so i can empty the d:, so i have been transferring the files and deleting ones i dont need. i accidentally deleted some old emails, so if its true that the data remains, i havent put any new files on the d: so i should be able to restore it right? is there any easy way to do this, or any commercial program i could buy?

there is also a program called entrack (i believe thats how its spelt)

it is used by many law enforcement agencies to retrieve data off of hard disks that have been far as formatted. not quite sure the availability to the public on this..

you could also try Norton Systemworks, this has an unrease wizard that protects your recycle bin.
