Kodak DX4330 Digital Camera

Well i was looking for a new Camera, and i have chosen this one. Why? because it is Compact Flash compatible, and i have a few of those already. It also can shoot some Video with Audio for about 10 minutes with a 128mb card, at 15 fps, and i thought i read 640x480 res. It also takes really good pics at 3.1 mp, and overall i was impressed. I actually havnt ordered it yet, but i wouldnt try to talk me into another kind, because i am getting this on a deal that cant be over looked.

What i want is some feedback from any of the AO'ers that own this Camera, or a model similar. I am really curious to what the video is like, so if someone can shoot a min or so, that would be great.

i had a DX series kodak camera and sold it.
the main reason was it went though batteries like crazy.
i mean really fast i would only get like 20 pictures and then it would shut off saying low battery.
tried all types and brands of batts, all with same results.

i have a sony cybershot now and am very impress with it

I have avoided Kodak digi-cams ever since I bought my first cam back years ago. It was the biggest POS I ever put hands on. The newer ones I have seen don't seem to be much better.

The video sounds cool. My Canon S330 only takes 15sec clips of video.

I got the DX3900 and its a nice camera. Its like 2.1 MP but its good when I can get it set right for what I am wanting to do. I not real good at that part. No problems with batteries cause I have the docking station thing and I just leave it there in between uses. It has rechargable and charges on the station and comes with a decent photo lab software.

if it doesn't have a rechargable battery then definitely invest in some rechargable ones. I used to have an HP that ate up batteries but luckily I could just recharge them rather than buying new ones all the time. Now I have an Olympus C-50 that's 5 MP, I love it!

Don't buy it for the video.. it will only take like a minute, tops... and pretty crappy quality

Well i guess i have to pick up a good battery charging unit.I mean, i guess i can use the rechargable batteries in other things like PB stuff! hey... Multi-use. I am also going to pick up the 512mb ultra Compact Flash card. I figure i should get about 40 minutes of video, and about 520 3.1 mega pixel pictures out of it. and irbodden it can hold long video, and i am going to test my uncles out this weekend. its the frame rate i am a little worried about.

but the main thing i have to invest in... is batteries. I am sure i am going to need alot of batteries for AO NJ III and my journey which will start here, go on the train to New York City, and so on.... but more on that when the time comes. be prepared for an adventure.

4 megapixel.

Its good for what I use it for...snap shots. WAY WAY WAY too much resolution for anything web related, but its nice being able to take a picture and crop it, crop it again, and still have to shrink it to 20% to be a reasonable size on the web

If I have read the first post correctly, it is a little late to reccomend other cameras my personal take on these cameras that "can" take video is just that they "can" do it but it is a by product of the technology...you want video you buy a video camera..ie something that was designed to do that and that alone (slight by product of these cameras is that they can take snapshots lol). I own two digital cameras both Fuji, one is a 2.1 megapixel point and shoot (has some settings to fiddle with but soon found it wasn't enough ) the other is a Fuji S602 zoom, now this one will take video but never used that feature, it will also work as a webcam ???? used that and there was a slight improvement over my normal webcam but I only did it to check the feature out, never used that part since. For picture taking it is awesome and I don't regret it atall nice large high resolution pics that I can then compress for use on the web, it has two macro settings (close ups) and again awesome, to be honest that is the best feature I have so far found, but then I am probably only half way through the book of words so more will be found. I did buy an extension tube and extra lens but that proved to be a waste of money as the results weren't that great..but at least with the extension tube and a normal daylight filter there is protection from hits when i take pics on the paintball field I have the benifit with this camera of being able to use smart media, compact flash and I think it is called mega drive cards. Plus the latest version doesn't use the rechargable battery pack it takes normal AA batterys (rechargable or otherwise) My camera choice is constantly in the top reccomended cameras by magazine review and has been for over a year. The only downside is that it isn't a cheap camera, go take a look at the reviews and see if you can stretch to one...the only one I would consider other wise was the Minolta Dimage series but avoid the early ones as they all got recalled.

Dont expect me to take master-piece videos here. The reason i want the video, is so that i can take quick vids of the Xmag, or things i want to sell. Mostly to prove all the haters wrong.... the camera still takes awesome pics, and that is what it will be used for. i tried out my uncles this weekend, and i thought it was dandy. I liked it. so i think that is what i am going to get, because i did like the way it took pics, and it was easy to use. but i am not too sure what i am going to do about the battery issue. maybe invest in 50 rechargable AA batteries and a good charger... :P.
