The word for today is: hypocrisy
I remember another excellent example of hypocrisy relating to the Brady gun laws. I wish I could find the original story though.Comment

So what? A guy got caught in a prostitution sting, like that's never happened before."What we have to accomplish at this time is all the more clear: relentless criticism of all existing conditions, relentless in the sense that the criticism is not afraid of its findings and just as little afraid of the conflict with the powers that be."

Bob Jones is a PRIVATE university. As a PRIVATELY funded organization, they have the right to allow only who they want to be a part of the faculty or student body, whether or not that person is anti-anything.Originally posted by Thordic
He used to work at Bob Jones?
Anyone associated with Bob Jones is a disgrace. That place breeds intolerance and racism.
Since those students CHOSE of their OWN volition to attend Bob Jones U., You cannot call it a "breeding ground" for hate and intolerance, as those people ALREADY KNEW what they were getting into.
I do not agree with BJU's policies, but I will defend their right as a privately funded organization to do and teach what they want, as long as it isn't hateful nor physically dangerous. (intolerance isn't necessarily hateful. I refuse to eat anything made from eggplant, that is not hate....just icky
)
Now, if they were teaching the best knots to use to drag blacks behind a vehicle, or how to get those scorch marks out of fine linen, then by all means we should shut them down. But, only allowing those people that seem to agree with their questionable teaching philosophy to attend, is neither intolerant nor hateful. Despicable yes, but not unconstitutional.

I guess I don't quite understand intolerance? I'm intolerant of stupid ppl ( ie smokers that poisen themselves and wonder why I don't wanna fund the lung cancer assosiation for smokers ) I'm intolerant of drug users, I'm intolerant of criminals, I'm intolerant of lazy wellfare bums, I'm intolerant of ppl who refuse to pleage to the flag, I'm intolerant of sinners ( whores, ppl who solicit whores) of course there is an amount of forgivness... but if you never ask for it... then how can I forgive? You see tolerance is way over hyped. There's a good place for intolerance in todays society, but every one wants this loved dovey feeling, can't we all get along stuff......
So does this mean you hate me cause I'm intolerantComment

I'm pretty sure he was talking about ethnic intolerance."What we have to accomplish at this time is all the more clear: relentless criticism of all existing conditions, relentless in the sense that the criticism is not afraid of its findings and just as little afraid of the conflict with the powers that be."

No, I hate you!!!

not
Intolerance is just what you described, a simple to tremendous dislike for an action, thing , or person.
To ACT on that, in a dedicated way to cause pain, discomfort, injury or death, is being criminal. To target a PEOPLE, simply for being a different race from you, with pain, discomfort, injury or death, is racism at it's ugliest. While BJU may be intolerant, they do not condone any physical acts against anybody, which cancels out any racism (this does not cover any individual with racist views/actions that may attend BJU)
I too, am very intolerant of stupid people (which is seperate from ignorant, since ignorance can be taught away), and usually tell them so with NO regrets. Unfortunately, I cannot HIT them to pound some sense into them, because now I'm being the stupid one......dammit

Personally I prefer cerebral beatings to put people into their place."What we have to accomplish at this time is all the more clear: relentless criticism of all existing conditions, relentless in the sense that the criticism is not afraid of its findings and just as little afraid of the conflict with the powers that be."
