It actually istn't a plugin. I selected the area, then "edit" > "fill". That brings up a dialouge box with different options. select "pattern", then you will have options of different patterns. Select the one shown below titled "nebula." In the option fields for blending options, select "luminousity" at 25%. hit "ok".

From there, select "image" > "adjustments" > "color balance". Adjust the color balance as you see fit.

Another question, how did you get it to simply change the color of the picture, but not the picture. I added another layer with opacity (crappeh)

When you select the area you want to edit (ie. body, valve, frame, etc) save the selection. to do this click on the tab called "channels" and there will be an icon at the lower left corner that saves the selection. That way, when you want to simply change the color, you can just load the selection.

Also, perhaps the easiest way to change colors is via "Image" > "Adjust" > "Hue, saturation...". You can then select what colors you want to change and change them easily by scrolling left and right on the "HUE" scroll bar.

didnt turn out too good. I have the channels made, but I have trouble with the actual hue adjustment part

                    Looks ok...

Another way to change the colors is Image > Adjust > Desaturate (this takes all the color out and leaves just grayscale) then Image > Adjust > Color balance. Sometimes that looks better.

BTW: One big reason that you dont think yours looks all that good is due to the fact that the different components (body, rail, frame) are all different luminousities. It would be much easier to mess with it if you find a pic with everything uniform. (and preferably not black or white. A colored Emag like BlackVCG's would be good.)

another thing to do is when you change a color on a layer, under the "layer" lab, go to Overlay because it does look a little cartoony the way it is now.

here is one i did last fall, the gun was actually black to blue fade, and turned out like this in the end.

Just copy and paste this into your address bar.

Depending on where you get it done, maybe $250-300... I guess...Pewter acid wash would be pretty cool.
