if someone says they have your ip logged then just ask them what it is. last time i tried, the only way you could get someones ip over aim was if you were connected to send images or sending a file. that might have changed in the latest versions though. and kevmaster is right, if the RIAA does contact you it will be through a formal letter in the mail. they might also contact your isp and then have your isp might contact you through email, phone, mail, or any other means of contact they have.

Hehe, yeah something along those lines happened to me a year or so ago. Me and a few friends were just posting like crazy on this kids counter-strike internet site(i know the kid personally and dont care for him). Later that night i gota messege from aolpolice or some form of that. He said that he was from AOL and that they have recieved word that i was performing illegal internet activity's relating to terrorism. Like the sucker that i am i believed this person. I went to bed right then, scared as heck. The next day i found out that one of my other friends who was posting on the kids site recieved the message fromt that same guy. My friend decided to talk to this "police officer" and after about 10 minutes or so he found out that it was a kid from school that all of us know. I felt like a sucker and from now on im not buying in to any of this aol police crap.

well actually the riaa were contacting people a little while ago through the kazzaa chat feature. nothing more than just theyre cheesy litte threat.

and the only way aol contacts you i through a blue email that gets sent to your main account screen name.

Dead giveaway is when he's talking about finding anything "illegal" on this guys computer...

Nothing is illegal until they can prove you don't own the original source material (CD, record, tape, 8-track, etc.) They can accuse me all they want of downloading illegal material, but they'd better shut the hell up when I show them my LP collection.
