        Macs make me sick

This year county has been the test county for schools giving Laptop computers to the students. Ibooks, Mac's big mistake, I am not sure of the stats but 3 out of 4 has had at least one major problem. They are disrupting learning by giving us things to play games on. But I am not complaining. Mac's are not good computers. They get very slow. They break, and they are just bad.

another problem w/ the ibooks they gave our schools is that the Cd disk drive trays, broke, they would not stay "in" they kept popping out. Half the school has tape over their disk-tray to keep it in. It took half a day for a student to fix his and tell nearly everyone else how to do it. It took the school 6 weeks to finally figure out how to fix them and have to spend money and send them overnight to a Mac Repair Shop in Richmond.

        I'm out cya

The iMac is something I don't like. The G4 on the other hand is something I like. The G4 has better graphics managment, better processing power, and is actually upgradable unlike the iMac.
The only dumb think Apple is doing is not producing the G5 now. It's already made and designed but Apple won't announce it until next year...

But I still like the good ol pc the best!

Macs are 'machines' just like a PC. People like to personify them for some reason. I've serviced hundreds of Macs, thousands of PCs... have seen my share. Mac hardware is pretty darn good, and their warranty is very good. One disadvantage with them is that it's difficult to fix hardware problems yourself if you have any, sometimes all you can do is to send it to Apple or the dealer. As for obtaining replacement parts, doing it yourself and such, I'd say a PC clone wins here. There are things I like about the Mac, there are things I don't like. Same goes for PCs. A lot of people don't like Macs because they don't like the OS. I tend to think that it's just that they aren't used to it.

They're different... they behave differently... that's about all you can say. "This computer is better." Better in what? Better in some things, not in others.

I like em both when they work. Hate em both when they don't...

I will say we got one of those Power Mac with the dual 800 mHz G4 processors in a few weeks ago and that thing rocks.

This is something I get to deal with everyday... The ol' Mac vs. PC debate... (the Hardware aspect)...
But here in an Automag Forum, I'm suprised to see this pop-up. For a group that pride the design, advance planning, technology, and quality in Automags, I'm shocked that some has considered using the haphazardly thrown together mess that Windows PC's are.

Apple and the Mac have traditionally been technically more advanced that other home-use computers. (I won't get into SGI's or other workstation class computers) You like graphics? Mouse? Sound? Windowing system? MultiTasking? (in the most basic sense ) Built-in Networking? Powerfull Processor? On-screen fonts? It all came on the Mac on day One...

PeeCee's are fine if you want to tinker with you computer. Mac's are great if you just want it to work.

Personally? I get paid to fix computers, and I don't want to make it my hobby too.

If I could only find a way to get that E420R home with nobody noticing...

I used to say stuff like "_____owns you". I've heard that statement so many times now that I hate it.

Macs are very good if you can use one. I personally don't like the OS, and my school had no problem with the cd trays. I would never trade my pc for one though.

Most people don't like Macs for the very reason that Miscue stated, they aren't use to them. People generally don't like what they don't understand. This is kinda like that.

3 ibooks and 1 imac broke in one year at my school. It's a private school and it was only used for 6th 7th and 8th grade... That's a total of 70 people... The things that broke were the cd trays, montiors, and one ibook fried I think.
