I saw an original civilian hummer go for 55k I was surprised, but meh wish I could find a deal like that. it needed new tires, oil change, and some tuning. It still drove just wasn't perfect had a load of miles on it too, 100,000 minimum.

Cool. I've seen some trashed ones go for about $40k, but they're pretty wrecked.

I think right now my best option is to pick up a decommisioned military one for about $25k or so. Then I can pretty much have a blank canvas to work with. Just need to move to a spot where I have room to work on it!

Anyone got a house with a barn around denver they want to sell for like $20K?

First off, the H1 starts at around 116,000. Secondly, anyone DUMB enough to pay 55k for an actual Hummer must have even less a life than I do! [j/k dude!]

have you guys ever driven an H2 or an H1? H2s are every nice. And you actually have room to put people in an H2.

OK! That does it. I am now going to cram a 7.3L Powerstroke in my new Scooter!

On the H2 issue... In my opionion they HAVE to put a Diesel in that thing. Its fuel mileage with the existing gas engine is horrid. A Diesel option is the way to go. It would increase its range by double and its towing capacity and make it a much better option. And they have that Isuzu made Duramax just sitting there waiting to stick in it too.

The major complaint of the new H2 owners is that when they post the car, there was nothing posted that eluded to the type of gas mileage the car got. They're now finding out that its like 7-10mpg and are unhappy. What did they expect, they're driving a luxury tank.

That was my first thought also. However, if you can't afford the gas you shouldn't be buying a Hummer! My buddy's mileage isn't all that bad. He gets 11-12 I think. My jeep only gets 17. And the reason they don't have a diesel is this is the "Urban" vehicle. It's made to be as convenient as possible while still being a Hummer. It should be an option though.

On a side note, have you ever driven one? The H2 at least doesn't seem all that big when you're driving. I must say, after having driven one and riding in one I am very impressed. Not $65k impressed, but then my other friend's Navigator wasn't $45k impressive either (and that was a few years ago). I just can't imagine spending over $50k on a car.

Looking at its curb weight I am certain it would get in the 18-20 MPG range in a Diesel. I not hearing any "honest" reports from owners getting over 10. More like 8 at best seems to be poppin up most of the time. A few people are reporting a little more but again I am a bit skeptical of thier varacity...

I get consistently "honest" 16.5 and 19.0 in my truck and it weighs more than the H2. Several thousand more I think. And I have a lower rear end ratio too. Mine is 4.10 and those things are like 3.7 or something. So that alone would give em a tiny better unloaded cruise RPM advantage already. So I think they easily could get 20 with a Diesel in them. And increase the towing capacity some as well.

I'll ask him again. I assume they do have the "computer" that keeps track of it. maybe I'll look for myself.

every computer I ever saw in a vehicle lied. And always to the good side. Sort of like an Angel keeps track of BPS...

Hand calculations and proper fill methods are the only way to go... And most owners just do not want to know.
