hehe first find out how much your insurance will be,if your under 25 look at spending huge amounts of cash for inurance. If your new to bikes I would say go with an sv 650 there not as sporty looking but none the less there great bikes.the new 600 cc four cylinder class bikes are lighter and faster then they used to be,might be a lil much for a new rider.i think the 650 puts out like 75-80 hosre at the rear wheel or something close to that crotch rockets are putting out a lil over 100(depends on which make)http://www.automags.org/forums/showthread.php?t=126801Comment

I'd reccomend an older CBR 600 or a katana. Cause anything new for a first timer is not a good idea. First WHEN you lay it over you are gonna be pissed that your new bike is scratched or dented. Second the newer bikes are just overkill for a beginner too much power and inexperience is a bad combination. Third the CBR's and Katanas are really well priced atleast locally they are.RATPULSE SHOOTER

for whoever you are talking about r1 and r6, you're a squid. go away.
anyways
if its a first buy, for gods sake dont buy something new. and IF you are smart enough, look for something at or under 500cc. dont be in a rush to buy a super sport, thats how idiots die. stay away from super sports for a first bike.
so, NO to the liter bikes, no to the R6 and CBR6rr & F4i and gsxr6
you REALLY want a sport bike for a first bike, look for an early 90's katana, maybe a Honda F2. but a good bike to start on is a kawasaki LTD440, great bikes.
best bet is a 250-500 ninja, good bikes, relativly inexpensive
but im gonna tell everyone in this thread what i said in the other.
BUY SOME DAMN GEAR AND ALWAYS WEAR IT a good helmet (HJC KBC are good quality and good price ones) Gloves, Jacket(joe rocket is what i have, i like it). never wear shorts or tennis shoes or worse sandals. walmart sells work boots for like 20 bucks, thats what i have for just ridin around.
whoever wanted to see what a crotch rocket is ill post a pic of mine, but they are called sport bikes.
im under 25 and my insurance is not bad at all. so it just depends on where you are, who you have, and what you've done in the past. I pay $350 a year comprehensive coverage on my zx-6r.
i just saw this, but if this is your attitude toward buying a bike, dont bother, do myself and every other rider out there the favor and dont. the last thing we need is one more squid on the road not giving a damn.Originally posted by spyderkiller
I am looking into buying a crotch rocket. I understand that I'll most likely kill myself on the thing but I'll have a heck of a lot of fun on it before that happens.
if i misread this, sorry, but brushing off how dangerous bikes are is ignorant and careless. and alot of people have trouble finding decent insurance because idiots do stupid crap.Last edited by Cliffio; 07-28-2003, 04:20 PM.

I know you did. I just love to look at it. Maybe someone else didn't though.
That green is awesome though. That was a big reason why I wanted a Kaw. A bike that stands out from the crowd. I only pay 136 for insurance though. I guess cause I'm older.

136 a year? for comp?
thats lower than i would expect on a 1300cc bike

just liability ....sorry. I didn't think you could have comp without collision.

i dont think you can have comp without collision can you?
anyways, i thought 350 a year full coverage was pretty good, even for a 600

I guess thats good. For mine it was almost 2,000 for full coverage. Thats pretty sick. I pay just 900 a year for full coverage on 2 cars. I'll be sticking to just liability. I'm not sure how they figure they can charge that much for insurance.Comment
