All I have to say is that the Georgia DMV is starting to make me royally you know what. Here, if your getting your license for the first time, you have to make an appointment. Yeah sounds like a good idea, until you actually need an appointment. I'm eligible to take the driving test next Friday, however because of the appointment system I have to take it August 13! Everything is booked solid. I'm really mad as now I won't have a chance to have my license before school starts. And you can't take walk in tests. All have to be scheduled, which leaves me to wonder what happens if you fail, probably have to wait another month. Needless to say, I don't like the system. I'd rather wait in line all day then have to make an appointment. Not to mention they make you wait all day on the phone to make the actual appointment (heh they recreate the line experience for you).

you have to make an appointment in pennsylvania too, although if they arent busy and have no appointments for that time (especially on weekdays) they let you walk in. you can also register online which is easy, but yeah, you should have just scheduled an appointment awhile ago.Comment

Durp I would've scheduled ahead, but unfortunately I'm not in control of my schedule as I'm not the one going to be taking myself to the actual test.
My parents are, and every time I'd try and get them to give me a date, they'd switch the topic because of work and all. So if your not able to set a date because of certain reasons, you lose out which I feel is unfair to some. Yes I know I should've planned ahead, but still I think the appointment thing is in the wrong. Walk ins have obviously worked for a long time, so therefore I don't see why the change.

Your parents actually have a life. How dare they? Their world should revolve around your wants and needs!

Hey i just got my license in Ga, it all depends on what DMV u are trying to use. I couldnt get ny oppintments near me so we called the Rome Ga DMV and we got one within 13 or 14 days and it took about an 30 mins from when i walked in to when i walked out with license in hand. So if u feel like trying to get your license sooner give calls to the DMV's in the rural aeras (such as Rome) or athens.

Yeah the DMV is definately out of control as far as waits are concerned. They have way too much burden on way too small a group of people.
I tell ya what though.Don't EVER loose your license in GA.You will jump through more hoops that a trained stunt poodle to get it back.I had two suspensions on mine running concurrent to each other(won't go into why). The Judge told me that a year later I would be able to get them back.I went to the DMV to get it back, after taking 2 safe driver courses and paying the fine twice. They gave me my license back , just to have to give it back for another 6 month suspension.
I told them what the Judge had said , and their reply was "we are the DMV we handle suspensions the way WE want to , not how the courts say."
And to top that . they made me take the safe driver course again , and pay the fine again to reinstate my license.Comment
