krafty: Canadians have to answer "skill testing" math questions to win prizes in draws and promotions because of the way our lottery laws are written. According to a court ruling here a few years ago, a math question including multiplication, division, addition and subtraction (or something along those lines) keeps a contest from needing a lottery license, because if some element of skill is needed to win, it isn't a lottery.
