my dad was driving our bronco today on the freeway and all of a sudden, all this rattling and banging and then smoke occured and he was stuck sitting there on the freeway! the water pump failed, sent the fan into the radiator, and totally farked everything up! its going to be hundreds of bucks to fix everything. good god! its one thing after another with that car

I have a 2k Frod ranger x-cab
It was cool until the cd-player stopped playing cd's, the windshield wipers started to randomly wipe, the windshield sprayer fluid stopped spraying, and the check engine light burns constantly, even tho there's nothing wrong.
The first chance I get, I'm dumping it for a dakota.

Hey water pumps fail. And that one was due it would seem to me. Bet it was rattling and leaking too and you ignored it.

But I was never that fond of the Bronco line myself. And those were made in the dark years of American automotives. I don't think anyone is too proud of those vehicles made then. ANYONE.

First of all, its an old truck. I have 4 fords in my driveway right now (1990 probe, 1994 taurus, 2001 mustang, 2001 windstar)none of them have any problems except for the probe(the windshield wippers(sp)got stuck up for a while but it was fixable).

About the 2000 ranger with the cd player....were you playing a home-made cd or was it a store bought cd?

If it was home-made with a label on it, that is probably the reason it stopped working. Ford sent out a letter saying that if you play those kind of cds, you may wreck your player.

Ford did have a run of radio's they replaced a lot of that overheated when playing a CD for a long time. In like 2000 or 2001 I think. Somewhere around there.

We had a ford for 4 months all it did was breakdown. We bought a Subaru and it has been going for 175k mi. We havent done anything to it major. Just oil changes.
